So... just curious if this had happened. Last night I woke up a couple of times and felt dizzy then this morning everyone everything was spinning for awhile. I had to go back to sleep and finally woke up at about eleven. I had gone to sleep last night around eight.... I also had a pretty bad headache and some nausea this morning. I still feel some vertigo but I can walk semi normally. Earlier it was so bad I couldn't even type on my cell phone. I drank a bunch of water in case it was dehydration and forced myself to eat some chocolate in case it was low blood sugar. I had no appetite so it was hard to eat....

I have been on Depakote for a couple of months but never had that type of problem. Just sleepiness and of course the usual side effects, but the sleepiness went away about three weeks ago. Also yesterday I couldn't seem to get out of bed.... normally I can't sleep past seven.

Anyone else experienced this? It was freaking me out a bit because I've never had vertigo like that....

I've only had vertigo a few times when I roll to my left side in bed. Goes away pretty quickly. Haven't had any of the other except for the extreme sleepiness Tues just before my T/C and for about a day after that, with the ongoing head pressure (not quite a headache).

Yea... I'm still experiencing the vertigo and it started sometime last night. I'm guessing it's lasted about twelve hours. I am sitting upright at the moment.... so pretty much any position EXCEPT lying on my side.... I felt like I had one of my simple partials at some point before bed, but I really couldn't tell so I figured I was imagining things. Not sure what is going on here but it is sort of freaking me out. I know I've had the extreme sleepiness and headache (or maybe you could call it pressure) after a T/C, but never this. And now the headache is returning. ...

The vertigo could be related to the medication or seizures, but it could also be something completely unrelated such as an inner ear infection, or other inner ear problem such as benign paroxysmal positional vertigo. Unlike middle ear infections, inner ear infections generally do not have pain associated with them and they cannot be treated with antibiotics. Usually the vertigo resolves on its own in a week or two but if it does not or stops for a while then comes back, request to see an ear, nose and throat specialist. Seriously - just like we wouldn't want our GPs to handle seizures, it's also better to go with a specialist when it comes to the ears, too. IF BY SOME FLUKE YOU END UP NOTICING SEVERE TINNITUS OR HEARING LOSS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS DIZZINESS/VERTIGO, SEE AN ENT DOCTOR ASAP. Often this requires treatment with steroids to prevent permanent damage to hearing. Too often GPs will end up treating this with antibiotics, and when they don't work the patient finally is sent to an ENT and by then it is too late to restore hearing.
