i go to my neurologist this thursday, and i think i'm going to ask him about a video EEG. does anyone here have any tips for doing a video EEG? like what to wear, what to do, and stuff like that.
i don't know if they'll do it or not, but i think it would be good.

also, how to get that stupid glue off? it took me 3 days, a bottle of shampoo, and an entire bottle of conditioner to get that crap out last time

Wuill this be at the hospital? Since you're not allowed to shower, you want to wear loose comfortable clothing. And bring entertainment -- books, laptop, camera, deck of cards, knitting, iPod, friends...

No clue for the hair goo, mine has always come out with one wash. Maybe ask the EEG technician for advice?

That is what we did with Rebecca at UCLA. She watched a lot of DVDs on her laptop.

As far as the glue, the technician used a liquid that took 98% of it out of her hair. They were very helpful. There rest of the clean up happened at home with regular shampoo.

The one

time that I absolutely could NOT get the junk out of my hair, baby oil did the trick........no idea why, but it did. Strange.

I take plenty of things to do when I go for my VEEGs at the docs office. They just roll their eyes..........but I get bored easy. :)

And I tend to wear loose sweats, or even real comfy pjs. If I end up taking a nap, that's cool, too. :) Who's gonna argue with a nap? LOLOL

With Jordan, we brought loads of books, Ipods, laptops, etc. Some friends were able to come visit and eat with him. Taco bell and raising canes! Haha. He was a big pj guy so that was really all he wore.

I was told to wear button up shirts that are loose. Trying to change clothes when having all kinds of wires attached to you is impossible. The techs that take off the wires usually get most of it off from when they are taking the leads off. It is very boring to be there for days so make sure you bring a wide variety of things to do. Also, it is a good idea to bring snacks because the hospital food is very bland and gross. hehe. Hope this helps.

I was lucky. My hospital had lots to do - on demand current movies, in-room video games, webtv, free wireless internet access if you brought your own laptop, etc. They didn't allow me to plug in any of my electronics in the room because it would interfere with the eeg. Battery power only. They only allowed charging out in the bathroom. I wished I had a power strip so I could have charged them all at once at night. You may want to call your hospital in advance and see what services they offer, and what their rules around electronics are.

My hospital also had really good food, with an all-day, cook to order room service menu. After a week I got really tired of the selections, but they allowed my family to bring food to me from my favorite restaurants. I sent an email out begging for Thai food.

Hair is a tough one. Anything oily will get the glue out. But it takes patience. I used a few little bottles of warm oil treatment, the equivelent of a quarter cup. But I bet olive oil, baby oil, or any cooking oil would work, too. Massage it into your scalp, then work the clumps of glue with your fingers, adding more oil to the clumps. It takes time. When you think you have it broken up then run a brush through your hair. You'll find you don't have all the glue out. Let the oil soak and work at the clumps at least an hour. Then wash your hair. After it dries you'll still look like you have some dandruff. That's the glue you missed. For the next few days put oil in your hair and massage in and let soak before you wash your hair. In a few days you'll be like new. And your hair will be silkier than ever. ;)
