I have been taking 200 mg of Vimpat for 2 months now. For nearly that entire time I have noticed a strange sensation in my ear sometimes both ears. It feels like my ear is wet/hot. But then it also feels kind of like a vortex feeling...Its really hard to explain. Before my seizures were controlled this feeling would be the beginning of a seizure. Now it just stays there and I don't go into a seizure. Does anyone else have anything like this? Or am I the only one with this strange ear? LOL!

For a while I had a sensation of a low vibration in my ears. I think it was a result of meds, or possibly hitting my head during a seizure. Eventually I figured out that it was the Eustachian tubes in my ears not opening and closing properly. It was slightly helped by clearing the pressure in my ear the way you can after being on an airplane (by closing your mouth and holding your nose shut and blowing out until the ears pop). The problem seems to have very gradually gone away. Don't know if what you're describing is something similar. Other folks here have reported different kinds of tinnitus as a side effect. Have you checked with your doc about this?

I haven't reported it to the neurologist yet I go back in Sept. I thought I would give it until then and see if it is still happening...........It doesn't feel like vibration or pressure. It just feels like I'm about to have a seizure, but never slip any further into it. I also failed to mention in my previous post that its never there in the mornings, it comes in the afternoons and gradually gets worse. By the evening Its pretty bothersome. I wonder if this relates in any way to the fact that my seizures were worse in the afternoon and night?

The temporal lobe contains the neurons for hearing, so if you have TLE, the unusual ear sensations may well be seizures or seizure-related.
