Wallet cards for seizure first aid

Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone knows of a place in which I can get a wallet card that lists steps for seizure first aid (i.e. recovery position, do's, don'ts and timing). Was hoping for something a bit plasticky so it's durable, like a credit card. Not compulsory though as I can laminate it instead.

I want to get a few, one for my wallet, one to go with my work ID (on my hip or around my neck) and a couple for the people in my immediate work area.

I have been looking for this for some time but haven't had a lot of luck. Surely there must be something out there like this! Otherwise I guess I'll just throw something together myself.

Also does anyone know of any plastic medical identification cards? I have seen the free ones out there but am looking for alternatives.

Welcome to the forum!

Australia -- Couldn't find any over there. But there are others.

One place is the Epilepsy foundation. This one is $3.75.

Anther is the Epilepsy Society Theirs is free if you send a self-addressed, self stamped envelope. On't know how this would work with international mail - how to get a stamp from their country..

This one is online and you can just fill it out, shrink it (with a copier or using computer software), have it laminated. Maybe the easiest option. http://www.diastat.com/pdf/walletcards.pdf

You could also make a fancy one yourself on your computer. Sounds like it's time for some organization to do so!

A paramedic told me to always keep my Medic Alert ID card in FRONT of my driver's license. I know in some states in the U.S. the first responders don't look in someone's wallet for ID, but if you live somewhere where they do, they often stop looking when they find the driver's license or other ID. A medic alert card in front helps make sure they know you have seizures. I have one of these in addition to my necklace.

Hi Mono, welcome to CWE!

I've made my own wallet card with contact information in case of emergency, etc.
With steps for seizure first aid it might be tough to fit all that on a small card. At times, I've had flyers that I handed out with the first aid info. The larger size is helpful, because there's room for illustrations.

I keep in my wallet a list of my meds and what my schedule for taking them is, what I'm allergic to, that I can't have an MRI, my dr's name and phone number and a contact's name (my husband) and his phone number. It's on a small piece of paper that I printed out on the computer.

This way if I would end up having to go to the er all the info is right there and no one has to worry about going to the house to find all this information.

I don't work and everyone that I go out with pretty much know's what to do if I have a seizure.

Hey all, thanks heaps for the suggestions. Looks like I will probably be making my own by the sounds of it!

Re the larger size: yeah everyone in my work area has a seizure first aid pamphlet complete with pictures. I have a poster up by my desk, too. We had a nurse from Epilepsy Action come and give a presentation. I just think it can't hurt to have it on me or them as well. Sometimes we aren't in the office and I think also that most of them haven't witnessed a seizure before so they'd freak out/freeze up/have a brain tart and forget everything.
