I don't know if this was a simple or complex partial seizure that I had this morning.

My husband was in another room and we were talking. He noticed that I wasn't talking right so he came into the room I was in and saw I was using my VNS magnet so I must have felt it coming on.

I wasn't using my magnet in the right place, which I do a lot of times when I'm having a seizure. I just kept rubbing it and rubbing not giving it a break. If you have a VNS then you'd know what I'm talking about.

I'm not sure if I blanked out or not because I remember him taking my magnet off of me and using it himself. He said that I may have had 2 seizures right in a row. If I did then I don't remember the second. He also said that I may have started coming out of the first seizure and then went back into it.

I just don't know if it was a simple that went into a complex or a simple that just stayed a simple the whole time?

He said the seizure lasted about 15 minutes but I don't remember it being it that long. It also took me a long time to remember people's names. I knew exactly who they were but had no clue what their name was. I knew who my husband was but I couldn't think of his name. Other things that were being asked to me I was the same way.

(I hope this post made sense?)

It's times like this, and if it comes off as insensitive I really do apologize, I'm thankful I just have the odd TC and the 'more pissing me off' jerks... to have to so often deal with the business of simples and complex seizures... it must really be frightening and disorienting... to constantly be post ictal... it would really throw one for a loop... my couple times a year post ictal events are scrambling to me as is... couldn't imagine it being such a frequent or often occurence... you're really strong...

That is a good question. I am sorry that happened to you. With the "new" terminology , as my doc puts it, i am curious what your would be labeled .

That didn't come off as insensitive at all AndrewIrish! Everyone has different types of seizures. All sorts of them too, not just one type. Also some people have 100 a month and some people may only have one a year. Some people's seizure's last a few seconds other peoples last a half hour or longer. I'm not going to say who's luck is better than other's!

I also have TCs but I have no clue that I've had them. I know it scares the crap out of other people when they see me having one. I had jerks a few years ago too. I had them for a few months then went away, I hated that! I can't imagine what it's like to have them all the time!

You're a strong guy too! (espicaly if your picture is what you really look like  )

If you had "alteration of consciousness", which you certainly did, it would be a complex partial. The business about not talking right also happens to me all the time when I'm having a complex partial, at least when I am with someone and am trying to talk. Sorry you had such a long one. Mine are usually less than a minute. You must be wiped out!

Take care! Onward!

I'm interested in knowing! I get those all the time, I considered them complex because of the awareness change. But these are the most common seizures I have.

a simple partial that went into a complex. reason being-
1. if you remember the beginning but not that you had a second sz as your husband states, one led into the next. 100% of the time a person will not remember a complex partial.
2. simples don't come close to lasting 15 minutes, between one and two minutes at the most, and even then, if you are still aware and know exactly what's going on, the long length means it's on the cusp of turning complex. a simple straight into a grand mal is also possible.

sorry to hear val, one leading to the other is NOT fun. every time my pathways went that far (either a longer-than-usual simple or both partials, i had a grand mal).

:hugs:
