About enlightenment...quoted by Wayne Dyer

Enlightenment is the "quiet acceptance of what "is". ( I hear a "Trapping of Mind" - "acceptance" doesn't move.)
WD: I believe the truly enlightened beings are those who refuse to allow themselves to be distressed over things that simply are the way they are." (I hear a "Freedom of Mind" - "refuse" is movement/choice)

My take might not be very sophisticated but when I listen to Dyer I take notes and this was one I found puzzeling because they both sounded the same to me at first.

I don't mean to bring anyone back to Philosphly 101. But I think he's the best! And wonder if anyone has anything to say about the quotes and/or Wayne Dyer. Stretching these quotes to the funny would be a blast, too! (No harm intended to the Philosophers!)

I have always enjoyed listening to his thoughts. I read a few of his books years ago.

I believe that for the most part that is why I don't get worked up by situations I have no control over. I "hear" and believe in acceptance in some situations. Other times there has to be the ability to not accept what "is" and to move beyond the situation to the next level.
Sometimes I need to push myself beyond the accepted norm, because a feeling / instinct is telling my there are other answers. Perhaps this is where faith lies.

I'd have to agree with Dyer....but, first one must define what "is"...and then, even though things are the way are and being distressed won't help that, I think that being distressed about how things are can cause us to reach into the better angels of our natures and work to advocate change. Where would we be if Martin Luther King or Gandhi or Mother Theresa were not at some level distressed about how things were?

Never heard of Wayne Dyer until now.
Just did a google search and look at some of his books that are available. wow! I would love to read any of his books.
Thanks for posting about him Cinnabar.
