Hello all,

Next week I will be taking my class senior trip to Walt Disney World and Universal Studios, Orlando Florida. I have a diagnosed photosensitivity and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the rides. Is there any rides that anyone here with an experience thinks should be avoided?
 
I am not photosensitive but live in Orlando crazychick! You are gonna have so much fun! I could not think of any that i had problems with but i am not photosensitive. The rides all have warning signs about flashing lights things like that at all the entrances. Nothing at Disney at all. Your main concern will be at Universal Islands I would imagine. Harry Potter World is not to be missed at all make sure you drink the frozen butter beer it is the best!

What I meant to say is that you should not have any problems with the rides at disney at all they all have warning signs on all the rides at disney of course just like at universal.

beer? I'm 18 :( maybe I'll try it in a few years when I go back. but I'm glad to hear there will be signs outside the rides :) that gives me and my friends less doubt about "Should we??? is it safe???"
 
My daughter and I went to Disney in February, just days after she was diagnosed. I was overly cautious and we managed to have a wonderful time! When you get to the park you may want to go to guest services. You can ask them for a specialized map - this will give you some basic information about the rides and what to expect. Your BEST guide will be the cast members at the rides. They are aware of the lights and flashes that go off. Paige was provided a special pass that allowed us to avoid the long lines. The cast member at guest services was VERY helpful and explained that having the pass will simply takes the stress off of our trip. Paige was able to get plenty of sleep and there was no pressure to get up early and stay out late. Have fun and enjoy!

i wish we had no pressure for time! but we have very strict instructions on what times we can and can't be where. they didn't bring us there to sleep in lol.
 
The butter beer is non-alocholohic! You can drink it! They make it that way so everyone can drink it in fact no alchhol of anykind is served in Harry Potter World which makes quite a lot of people mad in fact but because of all of the kids in that part of the park they decided to play it safe.

True that about the guest services tip that Chop was giving you crazy chick the lines do get long... especially at universal you do have to pay extra for a speedy pass there whereas you do not at disney. but if it is your birthday at universal or another special event they have theese buttons that you wear that sometimes they will speed you through the lines. But DO NOT GO THROGH THE SPEED PASS LANE on the main ride in Harry Potter at the Castle unless you plan to ride it again becasue you will miss to many things. I went last year on my birthday they saw my birthday pin expitded me through the line and I missed half the stuff in the castle so we rode it again so i would not miss the stuff in the castle which was half the fun!

Watch out for space mountain. They have it well posted will going through the line. have fun! Sounds like a sweet senior trip.

well, still to be on the safe side, if my athletic director catches me with anything that even resembles an alcohol drink i am being sent home on the next flight at my parent's cost and they won't be happy. lol. but i've been on space mountian :( i love it.
 
Nothing to add to the good advice offered above... but I hope you have a great time next week!
 
When we went to Disney in February, we did not ride Space Mountain - there are some flashing lights in a tunnel that we were worried about. Also, the ride at EPCOT in Norway - for SURE has strobe lights. She rode Rock n Roller Coaster with no problem. They do take a picture as soon as you "take off" and there are flashes from the cameras - Paige covered one eye as we took off. She had read somewhere that closing one eye helps with the flashes. I am not sure about that - but she felt better doing it.

Again - I would go to Guest Services and get a special park map. It will help you. If you think a special pass will be helpful, I would ask for one. And most importantly, ask the workers about any flashing lights on the rides. Since Paige has a pass, we entered most rides thru the fast pass line and we would ask the cast members there - before we went in - about any lights.
 
Oh crazy chick are you coming for a tourney at ESPN Wide World of Sports? I work at the Celebration Nike Store on 192! Near Disney! If your team comes in we can announce that your team came in : ) I work mostly mornings and afternoons but if you come in I would love to meet you.
