weight and tegretol?

Hi i just wandered whether people have experienced weight changes while taking tegretol, and if so has it been weight gain or loss? Thankyou

I've been on Tegretol since 2002 & I can't really say if it has affected my weight because when I started on it I was overweight, didn't get regular exercise & didn't have a particular healthy diet
I was on Topamax from 2006 - 2008 & that gave me no appetite so I lost a bit of weight while on it. When I was on the Topamax I started to eat a little more healthier & walk alot more.
I am on Keppra & Tegretol at the moment, my weight goes up & down but I think that's more to do with what I eat (I cut out some foods a few years ago but every so often I might treat myself to take away or chocolate).

Weight gain I was on tegretol alone as my first med. wasn't so bad then back on it again now and combined with the other two I'm now a human hippo!!

I was on tegretol about 2 years. I lost a ton of weight. Lack of appetite, nausea, vomiting and diahrea were some of my side affects. When I finally stopped taking it I was down to about 100 lbs; which is at least 30 lbs too light for my frame.

Side note...starting keppra fixed that lack of weight problem!

I was off of meds for about 2 years before going on the keppra. So I did put on about 20 lbs while med free. I don't know what it is about the keppra; my eating style didn't change a whole lot. I've heard many say they gained weight on keppra.

On the good side...my husband says I gained the weight in the perfect places!

I wouldn't mind but I get a telling off by the neuro about my weight I was 16st 1lb yesterday was just curious about my weight, personally I am not happy with it and all the weight is in the wrong places I try not to think about it too much but it does get to me sometimes

i lost loads of weight after i had been on tegretol for a year, i'm glad about it though as i was starting to get a bit overweight
