I called yesterday to tell them of the symptoms that Ive had over the past few days with starting the Vimpat. Ive had alot of times during the day where my hands or feet would go completely numb, and Ive came across bruises on my right arm that wasnt there days before. I also told her about the stiffening of my right arm and hand that happens during the middle of the night.

She said since Ive only been on 50mgs of Vimpat twice a day since wednesday, it shouldnt be any symptoms of the Vimpat that Im dealing with. If anything, my level isnt where it should be, and she said If I was concerned with the bruising, then to maybe call my Primary Care Physician to check some levels. Like making sure my vitamins are ok.

But since she did call me in a 6 months supply of the Vimpat, she said for now, she would rather see me only take a small amount of Vimpat, just incase the Vimpat doesnt work. So she said she will be sending me out a month's supply of samples of the Vimpat for me to take. :) I wasnt expecting to get free medication from her, but at least it will give me a month to try it out, instead of paying for a 6 month supply right now.

Plus, last night when I was googling things, I came across the Vimpat Savings Card Site. So I printed out the papers. I will see how things go with the samples the nurse sends me and if things work out for me with the Vimpat, I can use the discount at my pharmacy for the 6 month supply. I called the pharmacist and they said they will keep the 6 month supply on file just incase I may need it filled after Im done with the samples.

Personally, I think even small amounts of meds can have effects, both good and bad. With Lamictal for instance, people can have allergic reactions to even the tiniest amounts. My neuro is always telling me I'm on too low an amount of my med -- but it's a high enough dose to give me both seizure control and side effects...

Keep track of your side effects -- the bruising, tingling, etc. -- to see what happens as you get used to he Vimpat.

I agree with Nak. I'm on a low dose of Lamictal, and I got a very nsaty rash at firs.t And at that time I was on a very, very low dose. I also get more memory problems on a very low dose.

Everyone's body has a different sensitvty level. You kjow you're body best.

Yeah the more I thought about it, after talking with the nurse, I asked my mom what she thought about these symptoms being side effects of the Vimpat? She said she thinks it very well could be side effects of it. I just find it odd that this all takes place after I start the Vimpat and not anytime before?

My gut is telling me its from the Vimpat, but I will keep track of all of this, and continue with it. I didnt know if mood changes were one of the side effects too... over the past couple of days Ive been breaking down alot. My husband thought it was that time of the month! LOL But its not! I hope its not due to this medication, thats one thing I know I wouldnt be able to handle!
