So today I called my Primacy are dr's office to see if I can get a copy of my last appointment to take with me to the psych dr on monday. I want to let her see that what my primary care dr said I was having, was an allergic reaction to the Lamictal. I didnt want to not have any proof of that and seem like a nut case~!

So we give them a call, and the nurse said no problem, she would get a copy of that appointment made and put it in an envelope with my name on it, and leave it at the front desk for me to pick up today before noon.

So I leave, and get to the drs office at 11am. There are no cars in the parking lot, and the place is dark! I walk into the building, its like a big plaza mall with the businesses inside. I go to the drs office area and they are closed! :soap: Ok, why the heck would the nurse tell me to stop by before noon today to pick up the papers, when I get there at 11am, and they are closed?

I had to drive clear across town to get this too! I thought Id might as well get out of my way today to get it, than wait til monday morning and have to go across town to get it and then head back towards the interstate to go to the pysch drs office!

I was so angry that I drove all that way, to pick the papers up and I find out they are closed!

I just had to vent.... do these drs offices think we dont have a busy life or what?

That sucks. It seems that "customer service" isn't what it used to be. These days you have to call to ask for something. Usually you leave a message with someone who will contact someone else. Then you call to follow up, and find that your message was never delivered. Then you try again, or show up in person, and some basic communication or bureaucratic error has occurred and you have to start all over again. I don't know whether people are overworked, understaffed, underpaid, indifferent, apathetic, rude, hostile or all of the above, but it seems there are more and more of these occurrences every day, so much so that I dread having to get on the phone, with, say, the doctor's office, the phone company, the contractors, the auto mechanic...

Anyway, I second your venting, and hope that in addition to the medical records, you get an apology and explanation from the "helpful" nurse.

I THIRD your venting Kristin! This is what has exhausted me about this past 3 years.Im tired of someone always having excuses-it is always a hassle for me to make arrangements to get somewhere, leave my kids somewhere, have the funds available etc...and its not just my endless runarounds for docs and insur co my kids also have lots of appts to be for school and such and then you have to work around how you are feeling--you and i both have 3 little ones home so its not like we pick up at a moments notice and run back a dozen times or hang out at the mall til they show up! GEE--Have some consideration! I invested in a fax machine--great lifesaver-

Thanks everyone....

It really ticked me off to know I went out of my way to get it, and then show up to find their office closed! I will be giving them my opinion on monday morning when I call to ask what the heck happened!?!

Mel, I totally agree with you on having a busy schedule with kids! Luckly my husband has a few more days left til he has to go back to work. He took a week off for vacation, and wednesday he returns to work. But just needing to go somewhere, if I had the kids here, I would have had to load them up and take them with. Just makes me irritated that offices cant even call to inform someone they are closing. Instead I waiste all that gas going clear across town, and then back again for nothing!:soap:

Kirstin, I'm so sorry you had to make that drive. Especially clear across town. It stinks. Like you aren't tired enough already. It really burns my butt when they do stuff like that.

But still.... they are human and they make mistakes. It probably isn't my place to guess, but I think one of my neurologists has E, based on his pattern of moods, how/when he forgets, what he does and doesn't understand about what seizures are like. Anyway, sometimes he forgets stuff. A lot of stuff, along with a little trouble expressing himself. (as in, one of our postictal zone-outs) It makes stuff really hard when you add in the fact my brain is only half there, too. But I not only forgive him, I think I understand him. He's only human, and I think he's one of us. Either that or he's had some really bad ice cream brain freezes.

I wonder how many neurologists offices try to hire nurses with neurological disorders? They'd get a lot more understanding of patients that way. Even if it does mean we have to be patient with the extra dingy-ness sometimes.

This wasnt my neurologist's office, this was my primary care dr's office that is here in town. My neurologist recommended I see my primary care dr because of the swollen glands I had while taking the Lamictal. My primary care dr said I was having an allergic reaction, and I wanted to get a copy of my appointment to take with me to the psych dr on monday. I have to update her on the progress Ive made since last seeing her March 18th. I just didnt want her to think I was making all of this stuff up. So I was going to get the copy of the notes the dr had put in my chart to take with me to show the psych dr.

I just dont get why the nurse said they were open til noon today, and to stop by before then to pick it up. Im hoping its at the front desk, so I can call them first thing monday morning and pick it up before leaving for my drs appointment.

Okay. No excuse then!

Yes, she was thoughtless. Yes, she was an airhead. Yes, she forgot she was getting some time off.

You DO deserve better. I don't think the docs' offices know how hard it is some days for us to get ourselves going and make that kind of trip.

Im over it now. I just got irritated that I made the drive across town to get them, and when I arrived the parking lot was empty and the office was closed. I have no clue when they closed, we spoke to them about half an hour before I left... so they must have closed right after getting off the phone with me? :ponder: Oh well. Its not the end of the world. My mom doesnt like me driving on the interstate, so If my mom goes with me to my psych appointment, she said she can stop by on her way to our house and pick it up. Hopefully they will, if I call and give her permission, they will let her. That way It will save me a trip across town.
