I'm just curious as I've never really paid attention to what happened before I woke up if I was having a seizure during sleep. Other than the headache afterward and the tiredness, what do you guys feel or see? Do you see dreams or do you see nothing? In the past I think I saw nothing but I never wrote it down.

This morning, at 1 am, I woke up like I had been shocked awake and I was confused and disoriented and had a monster headache. But I don't recall any dreams (or I didn't when I wrote it down in my phone, it's hard to remember) This afternoon, I was dreaming about my last postictal state (very vivid, real like dream) and woke up to a gnarly headache as well, I felt all out of sorts from the dream and I still feel woozy and have a headache which has increased. I don't know anything else that happens during, or if it did.

It's also taking me a really long time to type this up. But I just wanted to know what your sleep seizures were like; if they had vivid dreams beforehand or nothing? I'm sure there was another question I had but I can't remember it offhand. :/

Well, sassi, that can be complicated.

When having an aura, some pretty crazy dream like thoughts can go through my head, but sometimes you just cant remember. A few things I can remember is throwing a TV remote into the bathroom and not knowing why. My wife was wondering what the hell was going on. She wasn't happy. Also, once, to put it delicately, i rolled onto my wife and attempted to copulate with her. I remember this slightly. Don't know why I did it, I just did. I'm sure there may be a few more.

What I have done without knowing was full force slap my wife across the face, kick her many times on the leg, smash a watch against a table multiple times, kick a bowl of rice across the room, do situps, and many other things that I don't know about.

I guess it can depend on what level of sleep I'm in and how far the seizure actually goes. When shown the EEG and video of myself doing situps, I was apparently fully awake, but I had no memory.

After all of these, the only negative effect was sore muscles, bruises, scratches, or welts.

Hi Sassi,
Most of my seizures were simple/complex partial which I had when i was awake. I would usually have this strange dream appear in my head, it was always the same type of dream but the only time I ever actually remembered anything about the dream was when I was having a simple partial because just after the dream I would get a funny feeling then I wouldn't remember anything until after I came out of the seizure.

I think I used to have partial seizures in my sleep (didn't happen until about 2008 ) because sometimes when I woke up I would notice things were on my bedroom floor when they had been in other spots (eg in my wardrobe) the night before. Also sometimes when I woke up I would be dressed differently (eg once woke up with socks on when i didn't have them when I went to sleep) or I would have clothes on my bed or on a bean bag in my room which were in my wardrbe the night before. Also the mornings when I woke up :to find things in odd places I woudl often also have a bad headach or feel really tired.
I do have alot of dreams but I very rarely remember what the dreams I have are about so I can only assume that when I did these strange thinsg in my sleep I woudl also have one of the strange dreams that appeared when I had an aura.

I once asked my local neuro about it & he said it was just sleep walking, I didn't agree because I was sure it was more then sleepwalking.
Not long after I was referred to a epiologist, when I met the epiologist I asked him about the strange things I did in the middle of the night & he said he was 90% sure I was having partial seizures in my sleep.

I live on my own so there was never anyone to witness me doing these strange things in my sleep.

I feel like I sleep through mine, if I'm having one, as well. I've been dealing with a headache all day. I woke up at 1 am, bright right awake, confused as hell and didn't quite know what was going on. I don't remember a dream but I don't really remember my day overly much. I went to the bathroom, I know, and as far as I know I came back and slept okay. My headache was almost gone by the time I woke up to my alarm but I remember a raging headache at 1 am which is very abnormal.

This afternoon I laid down to take a nap and I slept from probably... I probably got home around 12:30 so from 12:45 or 1 till about 3 or so because my dad told me he was leaving, then I fell asleep again and woke up right around the time I posted this. Right before I woke up I remember dreaming about my postictal state in August and remember I was just about to slide into the psychotic phase again (thinking I was come home from a psyche ward) when I woke up with an even worse headache and just overall body aches (knees, elbows, shoulders, etc.) and feeling off-balance. I got up to go to the bathroom and felt wobbly.

thankfully, i sleep through them,
I want to say I sleep through mine as well because I just wake up feeling weird, extra tired and with a nasty headache.

I once asked my local neurologist about it & he said it was just sleep walking, I didn't agree because I was sure it was more then sleepwalking.

I have slept walked. At least I think that's what I did shortly after my ER trip in August. My mom said she heard me upstairs rummaging through the cabinets in the middle of the night and I told her she must've been crazy. Not sure why she didn't come out to check on me. I do have a history of sleep walking. There was once when I was a kid and I went to the bathroom right in front of the bathroom (like on the carpet), another time I walked downstairs and decided to go pee on a chair downstairs (I guess I decided, not sure what a sleeping person decides). I believe there were a couple more instances but I don't remember anything about them. My uncle sleep walks too.

I don't know if I've moved anything in my sleep (my room's in a right state) but the floor seemed a bit clearer last night when I got up to go to the bathroom. Might've been my imagination but I clearly remember more stuff being on the floor and not having a nice clean path. Although what happened this afternoon I'd love to know.

As a side note, thanks for letting me know what happens during yours! I've always wondered what does happen, being that there's nothing shown for mine, really. Other than feeling weird and confused, disoriented and being sleepier than when I decided to take the nap/sleep compounded with a nasty headache.

I don't remember any of mine. When I wake up in the morning I have a spliting headache and I am wet because I always seem to wet the bed during my sleep seizures. This is still new to me so I am still trying to cope and characterize them, but I have absence, complex partial, and grand-mal. The last sleep seizure I had was Wednesday night. I went to work the next day and had a grand-mal while I was teaching. It is frightening because I felt fine. Nevertheless, my head always hurts and I wet the bed. It embarrasses me so, but I know I can't control it.

I only have tc's during sleep..

If I do have any vivid dreams or even sp's before I don't remember them after. After the post-ictal when I wake up I usually have no memory of the last few days. It comes back within a day or two.
