I have been diagnosed as having both tonic and partial nocturnal seizures (I think simple partial but don't recall; I'll get clarification at next appt.). In between what I recognize as a full nocturnal seizures I can have nights of random activity that are like bits of the full seizures I have. I had a strange one occur last night and a few nights ago. I had vague awareness in my still mostly asleep state of my lips "sucking", where my mouth seemed to open then my lips draw together repeatedly for I don't know how many times (since they started in a full sleep state, I'm pretty sure). There were other bits of other random activity in both nights as well but this other activity was more typical of what I will get, like my left arm jerking a few times or my left leg doing a sustained kick (exactly what happens during a seizure but they occur in isolation and for a much shorter time during one of these random activity nights). Would appreciate any thoughts as to what this lip sucking is. Is this a complex partial seizure? If it is, why did I develop awareness it was happening?
