I'm going to the EMU next week. The Dr said that I could be there for a full week, it depends on how things go.

I wanted to know what I can expect while I'm in there. I know I'll be weaned off my meds so I'll have seizures.

Will I be able to get out of bed and move around or will I be in bed all the time? What other things go on?

What should I wear?

They said I can bring my computer, which I probably will, and other things to do while I'm in there. I'll probably bring my Kindle and some crossword puzzle books.

What were you like after you came home? Any seizures close to the time you got home or were things back to normal seizure wise?

Any other info would be great! Thanks!

One simple thing I’ve found helpful for any extended hospital stay. I’ve been bringing a small extension cord for my electronics.
Best of luck.

At my EMU stay at Presby they generally didn't like electronics near the EEG wires and electrodes, especially power cords. I brought my laptop to try and get work done but it was a mistake, I didn't accomplish anything.

Medication weening depends on the EEG results which they monitor on a daily basis. If you're on multiple meds they might taper one med and not change another, then the next day both, etc.

If they have food menus, definitely spend the time to pick a meal than just eat what they give you. I got to have soda in the hospital which is a morale booster for me. Oh, and lots of grilled cheese!

Have a good data plan, because wifi isn't always that great.
