I had a really weird experience and I wondered if anyone has insight. Two weeks ago I was in the hospital because of severe dizziness and throwing up. They were giving me meds for both but also while I was there increased Vimpat from 50mg twice a day to 100mg twice a day. On day three I go out of bed and walked around the room. I told the nurse I felt weird. Just as she was helping me into bed I started starring into space. My cardiologist and neurologist happened to be in the hall. While this was going on I could hear them talking but I could not respond other them move a couple of fingers. They started giving me med to break the "seizure". The also had someone come in to do an EEG. About that time I don't remember anything else medically. I do remember thinking I was in a glass dome and pretty things were falling from it. I know I sound crazy. Later I was told the it was not a real seizure because it was not on the EEG. The weird thing is something similar had happened the day before but it did not last as long and was not as intense. I was there for 4 more days and it did not happen again. I am wondering if anyone else has had something like that happen or ideas of what that was.

Hi KTP,
What you described doesn't sound crazy at all, I'm wondering if the feeling you had while in hospital was a partial seizure.

It seems that alot of specialists rely to much on EEGs & if the EEG comes back normal they assume it wasn't seizure activity.
Just because the EEG didn't show up anything it doesn't mean what you experienced wasn't some sort of seizure. I think that sometimes partial seizures don't show up on the EEG & also if the seizure activity starts deep in your brain it doesn't always come up on the EEG.

Thanks. The weird thing is, is that I had an EEG last year that showed I was having simple complex seizures. ( I think that is it). I had no symptoms so I did nothing. In May I started the Vimpat because I had some other medical issues going on. After them telling me it did not show up on the EEG it has left me freaked out wondering what it could be. What you say makes sense to me when I think about the fact that they saw seizure activity on the EEG before I felt anything out of the ordinary. Thanks for your help!
