For years I have been experiencing "episodes" where i will be sitting on the couch watching tv or whatever and my upper body will jerk. I have always been told that is just cold chills. But it happens even when im not cold (outside on the hottest day in July). Is it possible to have cold chills when youre not cold or could it be seizure related. Has anyone else experienced this type of thing.

They could be Myclonic Seizures

Myclonic Jerks

Until I changed my diet I use to have sudden jerks in my sleep, they were seizure related. According to what I've read it is possible to have jerks which are not seizure related. I think the only way to know for sure would be to see a specialist.

I know it is something i should probably bring up with the neuro and plan to do so when I go back tuesday but I was just wondering if anyone had any similar experiences. When I first went to the neuro three weeks ago all he said was that there are more than just the seizures where u shake (gran mal) and that the numbness and tingling i experienced in my arm and face as well as the twitching in my mouth was a seizure and put me meds. So i really have no idea what is going on or what to expect. I only knew of Grand mal seizures. Trying to get a firmer grip on things

Just mention it when you see the doctor. It's scary when you actually look up all the different kinds of seizures people can have, before I was diagnosed I thought there was only tonic-clonic (Grand mal) and partial (petit mal) seizures too.
If you have a seizure diary maybe add the jerking in there, you might see a trigger for them. Definitely talk to your neurologist about anything you may suspect is seizure related.
Most of my seizure activity happened in my sleep, for ages after being on medication (which stopped all the other seizures) I would jerk and wake myself up several times a night. I think myclonus is fairly common.

Here is a great site that tells about different types of seizures:

I've had SP, CP and TC seizures over the years. I also have hypothyroid (an under active thyroid) and when my thyroid level needs to be checked again, I do start getting chills again, so maybe you need your thyroid checked.

It happens once in a while to my wife - also almost exclusively when she is watching TV. I don't know if it's a photosensitive thing (I don't really think this is the reason) or just being in a passive couch potato mind frame (this I think), but in her case, they are very short duration complex partials (maybe 2 seconds long) with an involuntary jerking movement and usually followed by some out of the blue comments like "yep, uh-huh" or "okaay". After about 3-4 seconds of post-ictal confusion, she will be back to normal.

A few months ago my whole body started shaking uncontrolably, like I was having a grand mal. I was completly aware of what was going on, I just couldn't stop my body from shaking. My family called 911 and when I finally got to the hospital the shaking settled down. I was still shaking bad on and off, just an arm or leg, but they wouldn't keep me and sent me home.

My neuro put me into the hospital to have some sort of test done. I had probes stuck to my head. I was shaking while I was in the hospital but he said I wasn't having any type of seizure. He had me go to a psych to see if he could do something about it. He couldn't find any mental problem after a month of seeing him as to why I was shaking.

I was still shaking, usually lasting 30 minutes or so going from arm to leg, but usually only one part of me would shake at a time. After about two months the shaking did almost stop. It would just be in an arm or leg and last for around a minute and it would happen several times a day.

Now every so often I will get a little shake, just like you said it's like you get a chill. My husband and I were sitting beside each other the other night and it happened. He even asked me if it was a chill that I had, but I told him that it was one of those shakes.

We still don't know what is causing them.
