I have been off keppra 2 weeks now does anyone know why my hair is still falling out? i was told the side affects would stop straight away. I was on ceratte which was making my hair fall out but i am no longer on this. I have been off this 4 days now. Any comments and feedback would be great.

Hi crazychick,

Be patient, it can take awhile for your hormones to readjust. Both stopping and starting birth control can affect your hair, and the effects can be delayed. I know it seems forever, but it make take a few weeks to a few months. In the meantime, make sure you are eating well (weight loss can cause hair loss), and healthily. A pro-hair health diet is a balanced one with plenty of lean proteins, fruits, and dark green leafy vegetables, whole grains, legumes, fatty fish like salmon and low-fat dairy. Iron deficiency is associated with hair loss too, so make sure you are getting plenty of iron in your diet.

yes, assuming there's nothing else going on with you that would be causing it.

I was ok till i started takin all these meds. Th cerazette was estrogen free so how long will that take to get back to normal rougjly?

I can't give you a date. Each person has a different 'reset' button. And the change may be gradual. But give it a few weeks to a month or two.

Not necessarily. Hormones cycle not only daily but monthly as well, so it can take a while for the body to get re-tracked.

Its been 3 weeks and my hair eyebrows and eyelashes are still coming out. Will this ever stop?

please someone help mr, i feel im going insane, my doctor is useless and refuses to believe my hair eyebrows n eyelashes are falling out, i really cant take anymore

Hang in there -- remember it can take a few months since hormones run on monthly cycles. If you can't change your regular doc, is there any chance you can see a dermatologist? They often deal with hair loss issues and may be able to help or point you in the right direction. I just read that another CWE member brought in a bag of the hair she had lost that week to show the doctor, and that helped get a response.

I was thinking of taking my hair in to show them. Yeah a dermatoligist got mentioned to me. How do i ask to see a dermotoligist? I understand hair falls out but not my eyebrows and eye lashes to. Its getting me so down. Every1 thinks im being paranoid but i know im not.

sometimes your body needs time to replenish what it's lost. it may be a lack of iron or zinc. try eating spinach, it sounds crazy but i went through a very similar situation and after eating spinach a few times, the loss of hair slowed. it has to do with levelling out your vitamin production and intake. just sautee spinach with oil and garlic and it will taste good.

Spinach? hmmm. Can u buy spinach seperate? if ua know what i mean? all my doctors dont believe me that im losin.my hair they tbink am paranoid. When u say oil what oil do you mean?

you can buy a bag aof spinach from the grocery store and olive or vegetable oil. chop the garlic and sautee until the spinach is soft and wet. it takes minutes.

Its worth a try. It cant do me any harm.thanx il defo give it a try. Ill let ya know how i get on. How long did it take before it stopped fallin out?
