you know you have it when you are aware of them even if the GP and Neurologist remain uncertain

Yep yep yep. So true. Let it be said however, there is a difference between having a seizure or two and saying 'oh I must have epilepsy,' and doing years of research yourself, having eeg's, mri's, going through a few neurologists, etc. etc... and knowing you are an epileptic through and through.
The only person who was certain for me, without questioning anything or even pondering it for one second, was an epileptologist in our first meeting. I wish all of you to find someone as wonderful as her, because she knew I knew... and never wasted a moment's time.

When your aunt asked you the title of her latest blog entry to see if you're lying about reading it and you stutter for a minute before saying "it..it was the one about...brian passed away....and you have to let go and move on sometimes....." you actually do love her blog and read it right before you left the house less than an hour ago.

Not only are you not allowed to drive your car.... but your privilege of "driving" the shopping cart at the supermarket has also been suspended....

You sit to color with your two year old and seem to have forgotten how to color in the lines...

Don't know if that's normal.. I'll be asking about that one next week...

you know you have epilepsy, if you have 4 neurologist, but no gp.

Thats a good one

I have a neurologist here, plus see a neurologist & neuropsych every 3 months at the hospital (where I had my surgery) for reviews. Everytime I go to see the specialists for my reviews they send updated medical reports to my neuro here & the GP.

Until recently I didnt really have a GP because I don't go to the drs that often & the GP I did have left earlier this year. Any reports the specialists at the hospital sent to the drs would have been read by my old GPs replacement (who I never met but my parents see him).

I recently changed drs & I now have a dr who is closer to where I live (my old GP was in the next town) so easier to get to if I do get sick. Plus now when I see the specialists at the hospital again at less they will have a GP to send their updated reports to :roflmao:

i have had epilepsy for about 7 years now, and aside around 300 trips to the emergency room, I have not had a gp. I dont get sick really. I just break stuff off.

I'm lucky because I barely ever get sick & my seizures havent caused me any injuries. Before my surgery I used to mainly go to the GP just to get a script for my meds (cheaper & easier then going to see the neuro just for a script).

But now that I make regular trips to the hospital to see the neuros then I just get my script there.

You know you have epilepsy when you have to take a shopping trolley to pick up all your meds,

You know you have epilepsy when you notice someone confusedly staring at you when you thought you were talking...

You know you have epilepsy when you question EVERYTHING claiming to be generic - cereals, toothpastes, napkins, everything...

You know you have epilepsy when you are trying to work (I am a proof-reader) and you type out the simpliest words and they come out wrong or, you can't think of the correct words to come up with. Having a bad day today... not helping that I am under a load of stress, deadlines to meet and personal issues to content with.

:(

"I wear my sunglasses at night" is one of your favorite songs....

I finally went to a gp again., and he said I am pretty healthy (except for the epilepsy stuff of course) and that's kinda depressing for the rest of the human race. I had been on my back for around 5-7 weeks, and i am no where in the shape I was then from when I broke by my shoulder. I consider myself in horrible condition. But if that is the case, how do people who don't have something going on feel about them selves.

You know you have epilepsy when you are visiting someone and the next minute you come to and you are in a bed but its not yours (had 1 at my grandparents n next thing I knew I woke with the smell of lavender and in a nice bed...grandparents )

You're chillin with your friends n then they are looking at you funny then fawning over you.

When your brain/thought patterns are slow or scrambled
(does anyone forget what they are saying mid sentance/thought?)

I love it when, not only do I forget what I'm saying, I suddenly realize that I have no idea what the sounds are coming out of my mouth ( god only knows what they sound like) and the person I'm talking to is looking terrified.

I guess thats just another way to know you have epilepsy. :-)

i hate it, because a lot of time i need specific details for something when I am having a conversation with someone, like if it is a manual transmission or how many gears. and I have a bad habit of forgetting when I need that little bit of information only when I need it. It is always the little things to, luckily my friends are used to it by this point in time.

You know you have epilepsy when, upon seeing your boss to get your money he yells at you, saying that customers came in complaining that someone locked them out of the store and laughed at them. (I used to work at a toy store by myself every sunday) Well gotta say thats the funniest thing ive ever done during a complex partial, i'm just lucky my boss was a good family friend, cause i didnt really know how to explain it to him. :roflmao:
