You know you have epilepsy........when the most dreaded words you can hear are "You had a seizure, you had a seizure!!!"

nah, the worst words you can hear are. do you know what year it is.

I got to go to bed I'm tired. it's 400am I had some nocturnal seizures that woke me up. Took a lorazepam. Now its time to go back to bed. Love ya all.

a week of getting adjusting to the meds and getting at 9am and felling like hell, it is my day off 8:45am and i cant sleep

You know your son has epilepsy when your neurologist is standing there frozen in horror as child goes into a tonic/clonic, while you're easing him to the ground, checking your watch, and digging the Clonazapam out of your purse.

And when it's all over...she says, "How can you be so calm?"

when you got fracture, bruising look like done 15rounds in boxing ring and dr or husband or nob head says you must know how you did that....
or you have such bad head ache world could end and you not notice

When you use your forgetfulness as an excuse for not doing things you don't feel like doing :-D

If don't bother to remember upcoming events because you know everyone will do it for you. I call my wife, my life manager.

When fall rolls around once again and you make your little back to school ist...but it isn't so little. And half of it is medicine.

When college is starting in a little over a week and suddenly the most exciting thing is realizing you'll be in control of your own medical stuff at school! No more pesky "you don't look sick" nurses who won't just let you take the dang medicine and go back to class! No more a bajillion doctor notes for an asprin! WOOOO!

So sorry to maybe ruin your thread :( but as a mother who's child seems to have epilepsy it's making me want to cry!!!

Is all of this because you get confusion after a seizure??
I mean throwing undies out for no reason or putting shoes in crisp draw in the fridge ?
So sorry I'm new & trying to get my head around this

Sorry to stress you out, seizures and seizure medication can make you absentminded an forgetful. As for forgetting what year it is, that's a question paramedics and doctors often ask to determine if you're out of the postictal state and back in the real world. Yes it's scary, but sometimes joking about it helps us get through it and makes us feel we aren't alone when we hear of other people doing or saying silly things too.

That's ok I can totally understand why someone started this thread. I'm sure once u have been used to these things for a while it's easier to have a laugh at yourself & much better than getting down about it! I didn't mean to interfere in your fun x
Is all a bit overwhelming when I have such an intelligent child with everything going for her & suddenly realizing this could really impact her life :(
Already she has gone from top of her class (and she's year 2 in a year 2/3 split) to being last to finish her work.
It's scary

pretty funny :)

Glad it is! I'm glad I'm not going away for college :roflmao: stuff would be soo much more complicated

courtneysmum I'm sorry we stressed you out. We tend to just love to make fun of ourselves to get through it all, and I'm sure one day your daughter will learn this fine skill. and I hope you can get her seizures under control, mine are now and I went from the bottom of the class to honor roll and I'm starting college as an education major in a little over a week :) I was having 17 grand mals a day just a year and a half ago and thought I'd go nowhere, don't give up on yours or her dreams!
