Also known as Zonegran.
I'm on Zonisamide, I slowly increased my dosage, I'm at 100mg. The question is, has anyone else had diarrhea caused by this med? Because it's not listed as a side effect but the diarrhea began a few days after I got to 100mg.

I’ve been on Zonegran since 2016. I’m currently on 200mg in the morning and 300mg at night. Never had any problems with diarrhoea.

Only issues I probably had with it was for a little while I was having trouble sleeping but at the time I had a lot of stress in my life. My neuro, epilepsy nurse and neuropsych think maybe the sleeping issues might just be a combo of everything going on in my life at the time. Once my stress reduced I was ok and was sleeping a little better.

I was on it for about 6 months. I had other problems on it, but not diarrhea.

Ya I'm a little torn, I'll eat a better meal today. And I'll ask my neurologist when I see her.

My neurologist is putting me on zonisamide, & trying to slowly replace Vimpat with it--all because of Vimpat' s cost. I'm currently at 100mg/day--I don't know what the final dose will be. My Vimpat dose was 400mg/day, and now it is 200. Until its totally out of my system, I won't know how its really affecting me. I was & am still taking 400mg/day Topamax.

Yes, I’ve had horrible GI problems from the zonegran. I even underwent testing, which proved inconclusive apart from extensive pain. Diarrhea is a side effect.

I really don't like changing meds again. Even w/these 3 meds in my system I've had some breakthrough simple partials. Once Vimpat is totally out of my system, I really don't want the complex partials to start up. (I'd still get occasional breakthroughs while taking 400mg/day of it)
