Geez, Brain

I have PLENTY of excess I can share---I've already lost 110 pounds, but I've still got 70 to go. You can HAVE them!

Any chance on Brain sharing 'em ?....I'd like the muscular side of the excess though please :roflmao:

I'm just trying to calculate what 110 pounds is in stones and pounds, but as I'm getting nearer FORTY, I'm not mentally functioning as quick as I used to....all I know is it's a hell of alot of pounds !....good for you

Sharon my scales say about the same as yours did except that mine are in kg so that puts me in the obese range for my height. :( I'll be happy to share a little weight with you.

Has anyone actually tried the LGIT?
Did it help you?
From what I see the carbs are only restricted to 40-60gms per day which is not really difficult to follow at all, and really if you cut out the junk food and pastries, you would probably be doing this automatically.
The results of research show that 10 of the 20 patients treated experienced a greater than 90% reduction in seizure frequency!

I have only had my first 2 seizures in the last 2 months, but dont need any more...this diet sounds good enough for me.

We havent tried it yet but Im in the process of finding someone to edcuate me so I can change my families diet.

I dont understand it all, and Im not sure I totally understand it but.. it seems the way some break down sugars /carbs puts a stress on the body and encourages elecricial charge. Im sure Im making it much too simplistic but that how I undersatnd it. I do not expect it to stop all seizures just hopefully get the body in its best working shape so to put less stress on the brain.. Im not sure. Please feel free to correct me but I will let you know how we make out.
good luck

Stacy is on a pseudo-LGIT diet. She's only limiting simple carbs (not complex carbs) - meaning limited simple sugars (or white flours). It definitely helps, but is not a 100% solution for her. When she cheats on the diet, she is much more likely to have seizures.

Robin,
I was just looking at your link for the gaps diet. I understand it's a derivative of the SCD. Do you think that this also plays well with the GARD?

It is my belief that whatever you call it, the rules are basically the same.
The diets have tweaked themselves but they still work on the same premise that you should limit or eliminate simple carbs, limit starches, you should increase vegetables, when eating fruit you should eat it seperately, eat organic when possible, eliminate bad fats, no additives...

GFCF, SCD, GARD, Feingold, Atkins, LGID ... all very close in their message.

I heard this somewhere: If it wasn't a food a 100 yrs ago you probably shouldn't be eating it.

I like your last sentence; how very true. And I think it's especially true of all the darn additives that are in all processed food. Raw is better!
