i have had a dreadful week again ... i am getting woken up about 3 times each night with what i think are complex partial seizures ... im still under investigations for epilepsy and am still yet to be put on medication ... BUT ...
i have found a really helpful and nice epilepsy/seizure nurse at my local hospital ... i was able to email her a video of one of these seizures/attacks and she is working closly with another hospital where im ment to be going for a video telemetry in september .... and they emailed me saying that "they are trying to expidite the appointment as they are waiting to make a decision about medication" ... so to me that sounds promising :/
...
ive been on two lots of antibiotics these last two weeks for a infection doxycycline 100mg caps and metronidazole 400mg tablets .....and im convinced that these have had a impact on my seizures :( normally i only have 1 at night but ive been waking up to 3 each night :( always in the early hours :'( :soap:

Metronidazole is on the list of antibiotics that can lower seizure threshold. You might want to try a B6 vitamin supplement -- it can sometimes have a protective effect in this case.

I'm glad you've found a nice epilepsy nurse -- it can make all the difference to feel like someone is on your side when dealing with the healthcare system. I used to have an epilepsy nurse who had epilepsy herself (as did her son), so she was especially empathetic.

thanks nak :)
and yea its nice that ive found her really ... i havent been diagnosed with epilepsy yet but its seeming more probable i think they are thinking frontal lobe epilepsy ... and that is prob why it hasnt shown up on my eegs or my mri etc ...
just waiting now but im feeling a bit happier ... just getting exstreamly tired and sleeping at silly times of the day cuase my night time sleep is getting interupted so many times at night time...
i am often waking up in the morning with a severly dry mouth which leaves me feeling bleh !! :(

I get the dry mouth too -- a side effect of the Lamictal I'm on. The Lamictal also gives me dry eyes, so I carry eyedrops with me everywhere I go. Sometimes it's the little things that can drive you nuts...

I hope you can get a good night's sleep, and feel better soon.

well last night i Didnt take the metronidazole (antibiotic) and low an behold i slept through like a log :) yay ... Bit worrying that things that are ment to make you better make your seizures worse :/ :(

That's great! A good night's sleep is a precious thing, and can make the next day/week so much easier to deal with.

Anti-depressants are meant to stimulate the brain in some ways, so they often carry the risk of over-stimulating it in people with lowered seizure thresholds. In a similar way, electroshock therapy, which can help some people with severe depression is essentially a seizure delivered in a controlled setting.

Hope you're doing better Jade! :)
Glad you finally got some sleep :)
