My 12 year old daughter has Ohtahara syndrome. (I tried to insert link but it wouldn't let me) Since she has started her periods i think a pattern is emerging. She seems to be having more seizures a few days before and during her period. Is this common?
I understand that this is an open forum and you may not like to answer on here. If you prefer, PM me.

I'm a single Dad so it's not easy for me to understand.

Thank you.

Mark.

Oh yes, hormones are definitely a trigger for some women, including myself. There are others on this forum also whose seizures are triggered by their monthly cycle. It's called Catamenial Epilepsy.
That's awesome that you've made that connection. I think it took me a few years to make the connection.

Hi Merc, feel free to ask as many questions as you like. Good on you for being such an attentive Dad.

What a wonderful dad you are! As your daughters hormones are changing they can absolutely be a trigger! I remember something happening around her age and then my body adjusted and I didn't have anything else really obvious happen until I had children and my hormones went into overdrive again.
I would definitely mention it to your neurologist. Perhaps there is something they can give her at that time of the month to make life more comfortable?

Thank you LJ-Bain, Wobblez and Nakamova. I will go to the link now.
