I take 100 mg Lamictial in the morning and another 100mg at 3PM. This evening when I came home from work I meant to take 2 muscle relaxers but took 2 Lamictial (200mg) instead. This was almost 5 hours ago. I only realized what I did about 30 minutes ago. I have had an extreme amount of yawning since then (not tired) and stopped up nose but no other problems.

I'm not sure if this is anything to be really worried about or if I should maybe call an Urgent Care facility, poison control or my doctor.

I'd call your doctor--I'm assuming they have an after hours that can connect you to a dr on call? Definitely call--that's enough over your dose I think you should talk to someone. Take care and good luck MAB. Let us know what you hear.

So do you mean you have taken 400 mg of Lamictal?
Technically not an overdose, as many people take this amount. The biggest concern would be the side effects, unfortunately including the dreaded rash.
First and foremost call your doctor for his/her advice. If no luck here, speak with your pharmacist and ask his/her opinion.
If you can have someone be with you to keep an eye on you so much the better.

I just got off the phone with poison control and they said I should be fine. That probably explains my nausea tonight and stopped up nose.

The rash is my biggest concern. I like lamictial and would hate to have to go off of it and start something else. It really helps with my seizures and stabilizes my moods.

I know what you mean about the rash fear. I accidently took a double dose once when I was titrating onto it - only 50 mg too much but I was still pretty scared and worried because of the rash issue plus I was a real newbie with AED medications at the time, too. The doctor I had at the time never got back to me (which was par for the course with that one; the one I have now is great :)) and I called the pharmacist to get her opinion.
I hope your nausea eases up soon!

I will send an email to the doctor in the morning. I'm sure she or her nurse will immediately respond. I'm finally getting sleepy, about 3-4 hours later than usual.

Let me know what your doctor says. Sleep well!

I have multiple dosed 100 mg tablets many times ( 200 or 300 mg at one time when it should be 100) through oversight or being careless and I think it hurt my wallet more than anything else. I cant remember it being a drowsy feeling.

Well I survived the night, just as I suspected I would. I did sleep until 8am instead of my usual 5am but that was probably because I stayed up until past midnight. I did just leave a message for my doctor's nurse since I haven't taken my morning dose of Lamictial. I don't seem any worse for wear so I guess I learned I need to be more careful in the future.

Have you thought about buying a pill box that has slots for morning and afternoon that way you only take whatever is in it? Some pharmacies in my area even prepackage pills in sealed plastic with times of day on it to avoid overdose.

I have that but the muscle relaxers that I thought I was taking are PRN so they were not in one of the pill boxes.

:) Ha ha, it happens, even to me. I called the doc and he said it will be ok. Whew!!!!

:piano: :pop:

The nurse called me this morning and told me to skip my morning dose and if I felt back to normal to take my afternoon dose. Otherwise I could wait until tomorrow to back on my regular schedule. I took the afternoon dose.

I hope you're fine now.

I once took two 200 mg pills in the morning[$200 mg is my normal morning dose]. I was on antibiotics and after taking lamictal in the morning I thought I should wait a little before taking the antibiotic. Well, instead of taking the antibiotic, I accidentally took lamictal again.

Lamictal is absorbed really quick because the effects started after 10 minutes. It wasn't a pleasant experience. I started vomiting and I felt like the whole room was spinning. I even fell off the bed because my balance was messed up. My sister called the doctor for me and the doc told me it's okay and that I should drink plenty of fluids if I keep throwing up. She also told me to take my evening dose at the usual time. Anyway that morning I had Cheerios and I despise cheerios now lol.
