On Friday night, Nightline had a story about a new laser surgery in Houston that is much less invasive and was used to remove lesions that were creating "laughing" seizures in children.

I wonder if anyone knew if it was usable for other forms of focal seizures as well? Apparently it just takes a small drill hole and recovery time is much much faster and less complicated.

Daydreamer, radiosurgery is very different from laser surgery. Laser has no radiation.
I think laser surgery can be used in any focal therapy, basically for anyone that could have regular surgery.
There are many other centers using this, google laser ablation epilepsy

The nightline episode if anyone wants the story is also available in abc nightline website

Yes, I watched it online saturday as I was not up late enough on friday and we have no tv reception where we live Kent and I watch eveything on the internet and on netflix saves on the bills. We are not allowed to have a dish at our condo and where we live its cheaper to have dish network than cable for reception. Local reception where I live is non-existant. Very interesting indeed I think that it opens up a lot of possibilities for future types up surguries. I myself had a diffrerent type of lazer bloodless surgury on my right leg and ankle 4 years ago I broke my right ankle in 4 places and dislocated it. I know have a colbolt blue rod in right tibia bone it is about 3 inches long and i had 4 screws in my right ankle and a plastic type cable holding the ankle together. I only have a total of 4 tiny scars on the right ankle. They went in a year later to remove the screws because they were causing me so much pain they went in at the same incisions as before so no new scarring sites. amazing stuff. So I had much hope when I saw the possibilities for the lazer surguries for the brain. Down here in Orlando they do a lot of training for doctors for lazer surguries of all types at Florida Hospital Celebration near where I live.

I liked that video, especially because I had laughing seizures as a kid but it bothered me when the doctor said they were going to get rid of the seizures & right after the operation when he said "the epilepsy is gone".

Truth is that they don't know if it's gone for sure until after a while. Many lesions have been removed & the seizures did not leave or returned after an amount of time.
