Has anybody ever used 23andme found they have increased risk for lzheimer's disease or another condition? I remembered I had a test done a while back, decided to look it up. I found I had the apoe4 gene. I decided to go look on 23andme to see what the tests were on medical. I found that I have apoe4 which increases the chances of me getting alzheimer's disease by like some 9% increase. I expected this, if I am alive by then and get it I have certain plans I rather not discuss.

Does this have any connections to epilepsy / primary generalized seizures? Likely, it too complicated for a lot of people perhaps may be somebody here will know! I'm trying to figure out the case, that's the only thing that I could find that is risky.

Hi notime,

I've never used the 23 and me but I do know that alzhemiers can be genetic because it's run in my family for 2 generations my Great Grandfather and my Grandmother have had it along with her brother and sister. According to my Grandmothers Dr. alzhemiers can also come from to much protein.
When my Grandmother got it she never had any seizures until yrs. later after the alzheimers started then she went into a seizure once but that's the only time I saw her have a seizure.
Check your family history and see if it runs in your family my neuro told me I'm at a higher risk for it because it runs in my family but he also told me that because they removed 75% of my right temporal lobe that the chances of getting it would be less.
I wish you the best of luck and May God Bless You!

Hi notime,

Epilepsy has multiple causes and prognoses, so having epilepsy by itself doesn't necessarily increase the risk of developing Alzheimers. However, there is some data that suggests that having Alzheimers (particularly early-onset Alzheimers) can increase the risk of developing seizures by 10 to 20%. See: https://www.epilepsyresearch.org.uk/recognising-when-epilepsy-is-linked-to-alzheimers-disease/

Repeated head trauma or lasting memory issues related to seizures could certainly make the symptoms of Alzheimer's worse (and perhaps harder to diagnose). And both disorders can wreak similar damage to the brain. For more on that, see:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3058398/

Although much remains unknown about epilepsy, even less is known about Alzheimers, so it's likely that future research will fill in some of the blanks about how they overlap.

I started taking noorogenics surpose to give you 20% extra brain cells and getting alzimers. As you can see by spelling and grammer those extra brain functioning cells yet to see action.
The condition it genetics fills me with trepidation as my mother in a home up road to me,she in a five min bubble of lucidity.SHE IN 90s and just rotting away,i rather go in my 70s knowing I had good life
