I am age 54. I was a competitive tennis player when my sz started at age 43. Prescribed tegretol, dilantin, lamictal, depakote, keppra over time. Usually with sz every 4 to 6 weeks. Now sz free for 1 1/2 yr on depakote 1,750 mg and keppra 500 mg XR. Attempts to play tennis have been very frustrating because of what I perceive to be a lack of coordination. Last time out I settled for serving underhand. Curious as to any feedback.
Otherwise, not much to complain about. Feel like I function fine mentally, although I get tired and have to focus on getting my rest at night.
Good night all.

You reminded me of when I was in high school & for a week the boys & girls did gym together so that they could all play volleyball. I was on 3 AED's at the time & my co-ordination was awful so I dreaded playing but the most humiliating part was when it was my turn to serve. I'd throw up the ball & miss it totally. I just wanted to let the next person take the serve but the gym teacher tried to be supportive & made me try again only to miss again:oops:.

Unfortunately the meds can affect vision, balance, and coordination, so that may well be what has happened for you. But the brain is pretty amazing -- it may be that with progressive practice you'll be able to work up to an overhand serve.

congrats on the tennis. thats a tough one and requires perception.

I have kinda had to give up bicycle racing kept getting hurt too often.

There is a series next month I want to compete in so badly next month

Thanks to all

I think working up to an overhand serve is possible, just need the time to practice.
Thanks to all.
