I had my appt today and the EEG came back normal. I talked with the neuroligist and he put me on keppra. He will see me again in 6 weeks. Is there anything I should know about this medicine?

IMO it is disappointing that he started you on meds without any discussion about alternatives.
Are you doing anything in your life to make nutritional changes? You might do some research in that area, and take it to him in 6 wks for discussion.

It seems you and I have the same Dr. How large a dose of Keppra?

Seizures are a SERIOUS THING, but also drugs are SERIOUS THINGS.

Keppra, Depakote etc. have side effects.. not always devastating, but they have always some effetcs on memory and concentration...

Occasionally seizures can be controlled with alternative therapies without any side effects.
However, once on the merry-go-round of drugs, it is more difficult to find a way to get away, later on, if you so choose.

This is my opinion

He put me on 500mg to start for two weeks then up to 1g.I will look at diet changes and speak with the doctor.

From what I understand neurologists (at least in N. America) are only trained in using meds to help E. even though the medical community is becoming more accepting of alternatives
