I am titrating up on Lamotrigine. I am at 50mg twice a day. I have had simple and complex partial seizures. On Wednesday I go up to 75 mg twice a day. Since I went up to 50mg twice a day, I have been having some fairly violent dreams. I had dreams like this when I was much younger (about ages 8-23). I can remember them clearly afterwards. I know that the dreams are a side effect of the Lamotrigine. The dreams don't really bother me too much. They are like watching a movie. I am watching "myself" (it's me but it isn't) and others participate in whatever is going on but I am not involved in the action. I am an unobserved observer. I don't know it this makes sense. I am sure a psychiatrist would have a field day with it.

Last night, according to my DH, I was having a bad dream. He said I was thrashing around and moaning and mumbling. He "touched me and I woke up". I immediately went back to sleep. I slept until 11:00 this morning. My back is sooo sore. I remember waking up but I don't remember the dream at all ... not a single thing. My dreams are vivid and I remember them. Usually when I sleep, I sleep on my back and I don't disturb the sheet, etc. Last night I pulled the bottom sheet off the mattress. I wonder what is going on? I hope it was just a bad dream ... is it neuro worthy?

Thanks for the support. I am so glad I found this forum.:hugs:

I was on this med twice and both times my dreams were far more vivid. Certain meds just seemed to stir up dreams or almost stop them. If you think you might be having some seizure activity I'd let your neuro know for sure. Or maybe the dose is to high or something. I wish I could be more help, but I know i've had a lot of issues with nightmares lately. Or upon waking up I tend to feel like im still in a dream state.

Though on Keppra this was really rare, and I didn't experience vivid dreams like I did with certain meds. Hope no seizures are happening at night and you can get some more explanation to what is going on.

Best wishes.

Lamictal gave me violent dreams and restless sleep for the first month or so. It's a common Lamictal side effect, particularly as you are ramping up.

After I was at a steady dose for a while, the nightmares went away, and my sleep improved greatly. If you can hang in there, you may find the same happens for you.

Except for Saturday night, I have been sleeping like a dead person. I woke up that morning when my 8 year old daughter came in (6ish) and I had the worst migraine/headache I think I have ever had. I told her to go away and immediatley fell back asleep and slept to 11:00; I usually get up at 7:00 even on my days off. The migraine lasted all day even with sumatriptan, then ibuprofen, and more sumatriptan. I don't wake up with a migraine unless I go to bed with one. I hate to think it was a seizure of some sort (really hoping for bad dream). I just can't figure out why I can't remember the dream I had, especailly if I was "woken up" in the middle of it.
