Just wondering! My husbands blood platelets have gone down significantly since being on seizure meds. Anyone else had this experience?

Thanks,
Sue

Sounds scary, but if I remember right he has multiple health issues? Is he on other meds as well?

Some anti-epileptic drugs can cause a decrease in the platelet count. You need to keep in touch with your doctor and monitor the blood picture regularly. You/your husband may also need to be careful as a platelet count too low may pose problems.

Hope your doc can adjust the drugs and their dosage accordingly. Wish you the very best.

My 3 year old grandson has Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura or low platelet count. The doctors don't seem to concerned. They admit him to the hospital for 2-3 days when the count gets down to 10 or lower and give him an IVIG treatment. Some days he's so bruised up we are afraid to take him out for fear someone will think we have abused him.
