I'm from the uk and I see you are not, sorry for the confusion there.

i'm guessing i cant get away with jeans (thats all i really wear) so ill have to dig something out :ponder:

You saw the inside of the machine, oh my worst fear. does it move about a lot? what does it look like in there?

No, i don't mean i saw the actual mechanics of it inside, it's just like a long white tube that you lie in. There's no visible movement or anything like that. It's a bit boring more than anything else i think. Unless you're claustrophobic which would be a bit of a problem.

As long as it doesnt start moving around me I think ill be okay, is it well lit in there? someone described it on youtube as like being in a coffin, im still wondering how they would know what its like to be in a coffin

I'm not sure. I don't remember it being dark at all. Nah, i'm pretty sure it was light because i remember it being all white inside with a red line going down the middle.

that doesnt sound too bad, thank you for your insight. shouldnt watch youtube videos of what to expect, i know they are trying to help but they really dont help at all

Try not to worry about it too much or you'll end up driving yourself mad. Trust me, it's not too bad.

Im going on holiday a week on monday with my kids and my partner so hopefully it will be out my head...at least for a week. Ima talk to my doc about it friday when im there and tell her how scared I am, she knows I have real problems with anxiety. I dont know why im telling her. mainly coz we talk about everything

I'm a bit confused by the leaflet "if you have epilepsy please ring before hand otherwise you will have a wasted trip - we will ask you a series of questions before we do the mri".

I think what the part on the leaflet about ringing is just to confirm that you will be attending your appt. The hospital where I had the last 4 MRIs would ring me on my mobile phone or text me a day before my appt just to confirm that I was still going to be there.

I forgot all about the questions, with each MRI I had to fill out a questionnaire which was mainly questions about if you have false teeth, wear hearing aids, have any metal in your body etc.

You can't wear anything with metal & will have to empty your pockets. You should be taken to a room to change into a gown.
I have a silver necklace which I always wear but whenever I had an MRI coming up I would leave my necklace at home. On the day of the MRI I would just put my watch & Medic Alert bracelet in my bag which my Mum would keep hold of while I was in having the MRI.

I had an mri this year, on the day scheduled, I got in was going okay , about 30 secs in I has to get out, was in complete fear, very similar to my condition, perhaps it were partial seizure...I pushed the button they gave me and was out very quick.. they gave me valium to go back the next morning..I got threw it fine , tho it went for 40 min or so, I don't know what I was worried about the previous day..the leaflet they sent me had all its cautions etc on it which I don't think helped. The technicians were supportive throughout the scan. As for the noises, they are loud, the music I was playing I couldn't hear, even asked then to turn it up, they did but still couldn't hear it when the pictures were taken, it between fine. I used the sounds if the scans to keep me calm...could do it again without the Valium you'll be fine! Try not to research it as much as i did, that's what worried me the most I think.
