Hm.. so it all seems that the 'top of the head' headache is from generic Keppra. I got one complex partial seizure yesterday during the day and the nature of headache afterwards was different to the one I had before.

Anyway, I had this headache side effect from brand Keppra for the first 2 weeks + and it was gone for a few days when I switched to generic brand. So I hope it is only temporary and will stop soon :). The pain intensity is weak to moderate so I can tolerate it for some time but I would hate to go back to studying with the constant headache..

Thank you and everyone for their response to this problem.
Obviously, as we get older and rely on a pension (if we have one) and our social security; sometimes there is little income to help manage our expenses.

Fortunately, this transition worked out so far, probably due to the fact I've been on seizure meds for 72 years now. But unfortunately a larger problem looms in my life--Tuberous Sclerosis on the brain and Islet Cell Cancer of the pancreas.

So, I like others have to take one day at a time at a lesser pace than I did or want too.

My Keppra headaches have been gone for a few days now :) Overall, I feel much better in terms of the side effects.

Luckily, my transition from Keppra to generic levitracetam was smooth :D.

Teva

Well, Kaiser came through - thank goodness - saves me $$$ - got Teva rather than Torrent, will be working it in next week to transition. My levels have been all over the place - 12 last July, 6 at my SZ at end of January, now 18.3 - just got that result today. Can't wait to hear what doc's response to that is. At least I feel better about the upgrade in generic, will post after a couple of weeks of this with fingers crossed....

Switching from brand to generic, generic to brand or even from one generic to another can be problematic. I think (and this is only my thoughts - i'm not a dr) that for many people it would be worth changing over to generic due to the cost however, I think that you should just go into it with the understanding that there may be a period of adjustment and consult with your doctor if you are not sure. What I would advise against is people using brand one month, generic the next and another generic the following month. For some people it might not make a difference but due to the inactive ingredients and the way different brands are metabolised it could mess with seizures.

Hi Carolyn -I'm glad you're better, and thank you for the post as I was experiencing the same type of headaches for the first couple of weeks on the generic keppra, but like your's, they seem to be gone now.
