So I've been diagnosed with epilepsy for over 10 years, still uncontrolled for the most part, except for the fact that I don't have grand-mal seizures anymore.
Recently over the last few months I have been getting epileptic attacks that are similar to a stroke in nature. Half of my face droops and I start making awkward breathing sounds. My wife said I kept drooling and convulsing, but only from the neck up.
I was mostly conscious, and do remember the entire incident, but I was a wreck after the seizure was over. I was extremely dizzy and scared because I had problems breathing. I was wheezing and it took a good 5-10 minutes for me to start breathing normally again.
This attack happened twice in the last 6 months, with the same breathing issues. This is likely sign that SUDEP is written in my future, so I'm extremely scared to go to sleep some nights thinking it might be my last.
Is anyone else experiencing breathing problems after an attack? Any advice? Thanks for listening!
