Hi everyone. I've been struggling with visual hallucinations for many years now, and I have some questions for you about seizures and hallucinations. First of all, I should mention that I had an EEG test done a few weeks ago and although there was no definite sign of a seizure during the test, I did have abnormalities. I'm waiting to see what my other doctor says when I meet with her in a couple weeks. Now I will explain the types of experiences I've had with hallucinations and visions. Please let me know if any of you can relate to these experiences and whether or not they sound seizure-related to you...
When I was a child (around 7 or 8?), I frequently saw a woman in Victorian attire standing in the hallway outside my bedroom. It absolutely terrified me, and my therapist believes it was caused by "something neurological". I also saw a young girl in my parents' bedroom. For those of you who believe in ghosts, I ought to add that no one lived in this house before me/my family. I also had visions as a child..I know this sounds very strange, but in these visions, I would "teleport" to Florence Nightingale's former hospital in Scutari, Turkey and would walk through a beautiful garden outside the hospital, and this 'vision' was always exactly the same (and I was wide awake, so it wasn't a dream). After that I think the hallucinations settled down for a few years (although I could be wrong, because I definitely have memory problems...There are times that I just cannot remember). The strange experiences began again when I was around 15(?) and I started seeing misty figures around the house, outside, anywhere basically. I had times of being abruptly woken up, to find that a nurse was standing beside my bed holding a cool cloth on my head. I could see her in detail, and it took a few seconds to a minute for her to disappear each time. I was also getting tactile hallucinations around that time...Cold breezes would blow against me and there was no logical explanation for them. One night I saw, in detail, the devil standing in my bedroom. This really frightened me. All of these experiences (and more...there are too many to list) have left me feeling afraid and confused. These days, my hallucinations are even more frequent, although they are less detailed and disappear more quickly. They tend to last about two seconds each. I see people, animals, and sometimes objects, such as cars that vanish. Because of my hallucinations, I am unable to drive. I'd really like an answer as to why I've had such strange experiences. My doctor feels that the hallucinations sound like ones seen with complex partial seizures. Can any of you with complex partials relate to what I've described? Thanks in advance to anyone who responds!
