I heard back from my dr's nurse today and she said the sulfa allergy I have, will not be any concern with getting on lamictal. I did tell her that since Ive came off the Vimpat, which was 5 days ago and have only been on Keppra XR, I havnt experienced any seizure activity. I asked her if it would be alright to try it without the Lamictal and see how things go with only taking the Keppra XR. I was taking the Keppra XR alone, after the dr got done with the VEEG. I was off all medications for 4 days, cold turkey, and then put back on the Keppra XR. I went for alittle over a week and experienced some break through seizures, and was then put on Vimpat. So Ive been back on the Keppra XR since March 10th. I was just suprised to go for the five past days with only taking the Keppra XR and not have anything go wrong. The nurse said its possible that my level with the Keppra XR wasnt up to where it should have been the first time, and I had break through seizures due to that. But since its been almost 6 weeks since Ive been back on the Keppra XR, my level should be where its suppose to be and Maybe its holding the seizures?

If I do have seizures or problems, the lamictal is on my file at my pharmacy and I can get that filled anytime I need it. So, in the meantime, Im going to see how I do with only taking the Keppra XR. :)

The fewer the meds the better. Go for it, and stay seizure-free!

Thanks Everyone!

I've been keeping a close eye on how things have been going since Getting off the Vimpat and I havnt noticed any seizure related feelings since getting off the Vimpat. Ive had the "motor" feeling in the middle of the night when I wake up to use the restroom, but after 5-10 minutes it goes away. During the day Im fine. So, because Ive had no issues with seizures since coming off the Vimpat, the nurse agreed that if I would like to try the Keppra XR alone for the weeks ahead, that was fine with her. I see my dr in about 5 more weeks, so I will see how things go and If Im lucky, I will get to take 1 medication and not 2! :)

I'll keep you updated if anything changes!

I'm a HUGE fan of minimizing the number of meds we take. Good move, Mom!

Thanks Endless! :)

Im all excited to see how things go in the weeks ahead! I was at my parents house today helping watch my nieces while my mom got ready for the day and ran some errons. It was then that I got the call from my drs nurse. When I asked her about only taking the Keppra XR for now, she was all for it! :)

My mom was practically jumping up and down with joy! :roflmao:
Since getting off the Vimpat, she was expecting the worst to come about, like having seizures! But since no seizures have come about, it makes her think maybe the Keppra XR will hold them? I sure am praying it does!
