Nak. I know you live in Mass. and I don't know if we have any other members there. Want to see if you are OK.

Thanks, yes, I'm okay, just scared and devastated along with everyone else watching this unfold. So upsetting in so many ways.

I was thinking of you Nak as I was watching it on TV this afternoon. Your the one usually helping us now we are here for you!

Thank you, I just still can't wrap my head around this. Some devastating injuries have occurred, it breaks my heart to think about everyone who has been hurt by this. Ordinarily this is such a beautiful, uplifting day, and from now on it will be clouded by this despicable, cowardly act.

I have cousins in Scituate, Massachusetts and I remember visiting Boston as a kid. You live in a beautiful city Nak. Lots of hugs from North of the border to our cousins in the South.

I just can't believe that someone would do this. I knew there was a reason I could not sleep today. I'm sorry for everyone... and hope they figure out who it was.

HUGS to everyone who was there. Is there anyone else who lives there? Love, Nakamova and to anyone else who was there.

I live in CA and someone in a town just 30 minutes away from us was in the Marathon. She saw it but did not get hurt.

It is the third largest Marathon in the world.

Things will never be the same here. It was Patriots Day yesterday, but whoever did this is no Patriot.

RunningGirl85 is a resident marathon runner, but it appears that she was online this morning, so I'm guessing she didn't run (or at least get injured at) the Boston Marathon.

Bernard, they said that you have to qualify to run in the race. Maybe she did not qualify.
People from all over the world try to get into the race.

Has anyone given RunningGirl85 a PM to make sure that she is all right? If she even witnessed it and did not get hurt, the trauma can be just as devastating. She must have been friends with some of the runners that did get hurt.

I checked with my family who lives not to far from Philadelphia to make sure that they did not go to the race. I am glad to say that everyone is all right from my family. I am glad to say that none of them went to the race.

Bernard, did you go to the marathon?

They also said that there was no motive, A person who did not qualify must have done this wicked thing..

I am glad to hear that you were not there.

Have you checked with RunningGirl by PM. I do not know where to find her.

My son goes to Boston University, within close proximity to where this happened. He called me on Monday shortly after it happened and at the time he wasn't sure what had happened. He said he heard the explosions and heard sirens, helicopters and all the chaos that was going on, although he wasn't at the marathon. He was pretty shook up. I first heard about the tragedy from him, on my way home from a birthday dinner with friends. I'm certainly glad he told me first rather than hearing it on the news. Otherwise I would have been a nervous wreck worrying about my son.
My friends told me later they could tell by my reaction that something terrible was going on because of my reaction and facial expressions. When my son said "terrorist attack" I freaked out. I thought , "Oh no, not again!"

Considering all of the schools in the area what I considered was a student engineer of some sort that had a grudge that snowballed into something much worse. I don't think this was against the marathon. I think it was for the crowd, cameras, coverage. The bomb construction should reveal a lot.

:agree: Some copycat bomber who has a grudge.

Ruth --

I am pretty sure that RunningGirl was nowhere near the Boston Marathon. I think she would have let us know -- as she has about other marathons she's run in. She's in the NY area and still with the army, so I'm not sure she would come as far afield as Boston.

Hi Nakamova,

Yes, but this is the third largest marathon in the world. Or, am I wrong about this? It was on the news. Boston isn't too far from NY is it? About 2 or 3 hours? In CA, that is considered a very short distance. Like, going from where I live to visit our son in San Jose, CA is a 6 hour drive one way.

One person from a town only a 30 minute drive from where I live, ran in the Boston Marathon. She is all right, she crossed the Finish Line before the explosion.

Would you please PM RunningGirl, just to make sure that she is all right? I think she would want to be there even if she was not in the race. Please!!

I am glad that you are all right.

I have been watching everything unfold during the night.
It was a terriost act. One of the bombers was killed.
They fit right in, going to the schools and Cambridge College They are brothers.
They got there training in Pakastin or Afghanistan. There father lives in Russia.

All of Boston is now on SHUTDOWN. They are trying to get the media to leave, as well.
They found that the brother lives in Watertown (sp?). They have found his home and his name.

He was dropping bombs in some places. Some were fake bombs and others were real and detonated by the Police.

They want to catch him alive so they can find out if there are others in the terriost group. They never left the area.

I hope all of you are safe in Boston today. Keep your eyes on the news or the internet so you can keep up with what is going on. Follow the directions of the Police.

I've been watching things unfold, also. I called my son who is at BU early this morning and he says all of Boston is on lockdown; schools, subways, businesses, etc. He couldn't hear the commotion in Cambridge like he could on Monday when the shooting occurred at the marathon.

Nothing like being a worried mother, even though he is 27 years old, he is still my baby. :ponder:

Actually, I don't think it's known whether they received training in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Both brothers lived in Cambridge (not Watertown) -- the younger one led them on a car chase to Watertown, where they are now searching for him. My city (Cambridge) is in lockdown, as are Newton Watertown, Boston, Waltham -- we're not supposed to go anywhere, and all public transportation is shut.
