hi all,

In know we've all had the discussion and experience with LED lighting before. And for me, some bothers me and most does not. With Christmas coming I wanted to ask about Christmas LED lights for your trees.

I've kept using incandescent because I like the glow and of course with the older LEDs I felt like I could detect a vibrating effect out of the corner of my eyes. I'm not particularly photosensitive, unless I am already having an aura and prone to a full seizure anyway, but on a normal day the vibrating effect will at least give me headaches.

However, the incandescents are a pain to work with and with more and more getting phased out each year, I have been looking around from really high quality LED lights that do not have the vibrating effect. I spoke to a guy at a place that sell professional grade Christmas lights and he explained that the newer, higher quality LEDs do not vibrate or "flash" as much.

He referred to this as the lights being "full wave rectified" vs "half wave rectified" and it has to do with the lights using AC or DC current and the full wave cycling on and off twice as fast as half wave.

Anyway, I wanted to ask the group if any of you who enjoy Christmas lights like I do use LEDs on their trees and decorations and if you have any issues or if you have found types that are just as easy on your brains as the old incandescents.

Thanks and happy holidays!

My family uses LED lights on our tree, and I haven't noticed any issues. I'm more sensitive to super bright sun than I am to artificial lights though.

Funny how that works, and it is different for everyone. When I'm feeling groggy or unfocused, I find that being out in bright sun, focuses me more. Almost as if its as the pupil constricts it focuses the mind..

Ones that flicker fast or have alternating colours really bother me, but slow glows are ok.

Unfortunately i live in a town well known for its illuminations, and the whole place is lit up from about august til january, no matter where you go.

I'm not even particularly photosensitive either, although i suspect it has an effect when there's other triggering conditions about too (stress, tiredness etc)
