Clobazam and hair loss?

Has anyone experienced hair loss with clobazam? I just washed my hair and there was just strand after strand coming out, and i mean TONS. I had to pull them all out of the plug hole.

Sometimes i get a little bit of hair loss due to hormonal problems, but not on the scope that just happened tonight :O
 
Because of the way hair growth cycles work, hair loss due to seizure meds (as opposed to chemotherapy) tends to be a delayed effect that might show up after several months. So it would be unusual for Clobazam to cause hair loss so soon after you've started it. Doesn't rule it out of course, but is there a chance it might be a reaction to something else?

I remember when I first started Lamictal I experienced unusual hair loss similar to what you describe, but it actually was a delayed effect related to Zonisamide that I had been on before switching meds. The side effect went away after a few months.
 
Wonder if its the hormonal thing or just plain stress then.
Maybe i need to find some chill out time before i go bald lol
 
This isn't quite the same as hair loss but all my life I've had bone strait hair. I've had epilepsy for 14 years and about 7 years ago it turned curly, and by curly I mean I look like I've got a perm. I don't know if it was caused by epilepsy or if it's due to a med I'm on.
 
I lost 85% of my hair due to an allergic reaction to Tegretol--it never grew back. What little is left is now falling out thanks the side effects of Topamax.
 
I lost a fair bit due to hormonal problems and topamax, but luckily i had an awful lot of hair to begin with. It's not thin now, but it's definitely not what it used to be.

Really don't want loads more to fall out, it's my redeeming feature lol.

I guess i'll put it down to stress for now, or wait and see what my bloods come back like, from the endocrinologist >.<
 
Update - got bloods back from the endocrinologist, i was expecting the hair loss to have something to do with my hormone levels (i usually have high levels of testosterone and free androgens), turns out that i'm ridiculously low on vitamin D instead. Which can cause.... yep hair loss.

That explains that then, and a couple of other things. Got a few months supply of vitamin D capsules to try and bring it up again so hopefully will be improving soon!
 
I drink a lot of milk, & eat of cheese other dairy products, so I know vitamin D deficiency was never an issue for me.
 
I'm just glad i finally got a treatable answer for something lol, it's an unusual but welcome experience for me!

We don't tend to get much vit d from milk and cheese here unless it's fortified, you'd have to have quite a lot to get the recommended amount. And i always wear a ton of sunscreen when i go out in the sun because i burn so easily (pale n pasty Irish person here!), so i guess i don't get much through sunlight either.

I have been dieting pretty hard lately, i suppose it's no wonder it was low really.
 
Been on it for years not caused problems.my thyroid on other hand did cause hair loss.May I ask what the other things that happens
