So my Dr had to take over while I get a new neurologist and she is taking me off of Clobazam 1/4 of a tablet at a time. Right now I am on 3/4 of a 10 mg tablet. I'm such an emotional wreck right now, I burst into tears after my tutor talked to me about coursework. Is this normal? Should I be prepared for this until its totally out my system?

yes it's normal. i went through benzo withdrawal 3 weeks ago.

i went off cold turkey (another stupid choice i made while being impulsive), but i was fine since i have a rather high seizure threshold (yet i'm epileptic?- wth?). i was very emotional, kept having heat flashes, and just that icky body feeling of having so much energy, almost electric, yet too fatigued to even get out of bed.

benzo wd's are tough, but they're not impossible and i'm sure since you're being smart and tapering off you won't have it too bad.

they'd be stupid to not prescribe you an AED during your withdrawal though.

you'll be fine, one thing that helped me out a LOT and still does was reading up on buddhist philosophy, knowing that pain doesn't last forever, nothing does. just keep that in mind with you at all times, pain isn't eternal.

seeing as it only has an 18 hour half life the withdrawals should be a little intense but hopefully will peak by a week and start to stave off at around 2. it's not all that bad either as in my experience and from what i've read they "wax and wane", in other words sometimes you'll feel the withdrawal and sometimes you'll feel normal as your brain starts to upregulate your gaba-a receptors.
