Hello,

I don't know what's happening with me, but I have been having these fainting spells or seizures. I am not sure, I went to see a primary doctor finally and he wanted me to see a cardiologist which I did and I also brought up seeing a neurologist but wanted me to hold off and see the cardiologist.

He did an ultrasound and took a history of what happened. I drink a lot of caffeine. and he assumed that because I didn't get much exercise and I was dehydrated which caused my blood pressure to drop. I have not been taking my thyroid medication because my primary doctor refused to change the brand. I get bad side effects from it, even if I take it for 2 months at a time. I was to the point where I was burning up all the time and feeling sick.

I just had another seizure or fainting spell, and I got like scratches and bruises on me. I have no memory of this happening, it's the first one after a few months. My dad came in, and saw that I was on the floor trying to get back up. I was confused and burning up and making a choking noise, so he got ice and turned on the fan trying to cool me off. The only memory I have is eating a salad, blank, on my bed, blank then was outside.

Is there a possibility that this could be epilepsy? It seems to happen every few months or more, but my primary doctor does not take it seriously. I called like Thursday of last week, to set me up an appointment with a neurologist.. I waited and called back Tuesday and they said there were no notes of it so they would pass it along... I don't know if my doctor is taking it seriously or what.

Does it sound like I have epilepsy? Or what please help, I am tired of having these spells. I've had them for couple of years now.

Sorry to hear of your "fainting spells/seizures". I think you should see a endocrinologist and get a full check-up. Have him/her change your thyroid med. Having thyroid problems can bring on all kinds of problems, even seizures/fainting spells. Have your glucose levels checked also, making sure your blood sugar levels are okay.

:agree:
The choking noise your father heard might have been the unusual breathing sounds that some people make when coming out of a tonic-clonic seizure. But it's tough to know for sure whether you had a seizure or not. Either way wacky thyroid levels won't help. If your primary doctor isn't taking your concerns seriously, keep pushing, and find another doc if necessary. I think visits to both the endocrinologist and neurologist would be helpful.

Write down all your symptoms (ask your dad to fill in the blanks), and keep track of when they are occurring. That can help the specialists in figuring out what's going on.
