Based on what I've read, they may be a result of my Lamictal, but I'm curious to see people's experiences on here (I mostly found some from people using it to treat bipolar disorder).

Several nights were scary. Like, some serial killer was killing off members of the house one by one, and my sister, me, and one of my friends were standing guard with rifles. Last night was just ridiculous. I was in a terrible mood yelling at people (this has happened in several dreams as well), and then was so tired I collapsed on the floor, and of course people came running, and I kept being unable to get up, like to weak to stand and my muscles wouldn't work. There were all sorts of animals chasing me up these stairs, to include a cougar and a poodle (wtf?). Then there was lucid dreaming involved, except it was a dream within a dream, and I couldn't wake up. I was lucid dreaming because someone was going to give me a ride home with this group of girls (my sister was included - she's in all of my dreams for whatever reason), and I said "no, it's okay, I'll just close my eyes and wake up in my room." And I tried, and I couldn't. Then I sort of did, except it wasn't really my room. Oh and there was a meat slaughter house behind this gigantic mansion that we were out.

Okay, so you guys probably didn't need all those details. This morning I am SO TIRED. I think I kept waking up last night, and at one point didn't fall back asleep for a little bit of time, but either way I think I still got around seven hours of sleep. I REALLY struggled to get out of bed this morning and feel pretty awful. Oh, and one more thing, does anyone else have to pee CONSTANTLY at night on their medications? I seriously get up like 3-5 times a night and have to use the restroom (or maybe I don't HAVE to, but it's like, I DO have to - weird to explain), and then wake up super dehydrated. Medication side effects maybe? I have no clue, but my sleep at night has just been so disturbed, it's awful.

Who else has had these type of experiences?

All I had to do was see the title of your thread, and I knew you were talking about Lamictal! I was only on this for a little while, but I had the most bizarre, intense, and scary dreams when I was on this drug. I've heard similar stories from others, as well, and it's the primary reason I had to stop it. I remember most of my dreams anyway, but on the Lamictal they were just too intense, and too weird! I never have nightmares or dreams I'd consider really frightening, but I sure did on the Lamictal.

Most of the folks I've talked to saw this side effect go away after a time, but it never did with me, so I had to switch to something else.

I'm not on Lamictal but on Keppra and I have been having weird dreams. I had one last night where I was in a store shopping and everyone there had red glowing eyes and there was a mean dog following me. lol

Some dreams feel very real & sometimes I have a hard time getting out of the dream. I also get weird dreams when I take Niquil for colds, even my doctor says it can cause weird dreams (Niquil)

Crazy dreams on Lamictal here as well. Most are totally bizarre, and some are terribly frightening. I like going to bed, I get a free movie. :p

Before I began this med I was lucky if I remembered one dream a year, now it's atleast 1 a night. I've been taking these meds for 3 yrs and the dreams continue.

I think it's the frequent bathroom trips that are making us so tired, it happens to me too. Boy do I get mad when I only end up peeing just a few drops, grrr!!!

I'm glad I am not the only one! I think someone else commented on another post that even though it sucks others are going through the same thing, it's good to know that we aren't alone!

I'm ALSO on Keppra, and I was getting some weird dreams on that that eventually went away, so I'm hoping the Lamictal does the same thing! My sleep the last two nights has been just awful, but here's to hoping it gets better! Though unfortunately, I'm about to increase my dosage again this week, and every week for the next few weeks :( At least it's been working for seizure control, lol. I've tried a couple of sleep medications, but they don't seem to work for me, so I think I'm just going to try to avoid any more prescription pills for sleep, especially if I can get addicted to them...

I am on Lamictal and I never had crazy dreams, it really seems to do a good job. But since I started the vimpat, man have I had crazy dreams actualy nightmares, nearly every night. The best one was where I was show jumping in a grave yard, no horse! and it seemed very real, this is the mildest one. I am starting to wake up in cold sweats with a lot of them.

I took lamictal for a couple of months and it altered my sleep. It made it difficult to sleep for me. I was trying to find a drug that stopped me from having auras before going to sleep and before waking up. Lamictal seemed to kind of help that but not totally eliminate it. The weird thing I had with Lamictal was going to sleep but feeling like I was dreaming. Really frustrating, im sorry to hear your having those kind of dreams.

its awful when you are stuck in a dream!! the worst feeling ever!! it gets to the point where i cant breath. ive always had very vivid dreams.but i didnt have a problem with the nightmares or being stuck, up untill about a month ago. im not sure if it is stress. been on lamactial for a while i would have thought it would have started before now.

I have been on Keppra previously and I now take Depakine and Zebinix. I dream every night, I never get good quality sleep. My dreams wake me or I wake my boyfriend talking in them or moving about constantly. I've tried taking sleeping tablets and this just makes me not talk, I still dream. Some crazy, some scary and some very mundane. I don't know if it's the E or the meds, it's the old chicken and egg scenario I suppose.

i know not everyone is down for it. but maybe take a couple hits off a joint. i dont do it very often. i use it for pain more then i do sleep and dont use it for that very often. but i find it to help sometimes me fall asleep. maybe it would help someone else with dreams. worth a shot.

I think my Carbamezepine is making me have the FREAKIEST dreams of my life. Seriously never had dreams like this. When I was on Celexa at a younger age I have vivd dreams and they were awesome. But this drug is making me having nightmares every night. Like stuff that I didn't even think my brain could come up with. Ugh, I hope this passes because my nights have gotten so weird. I sleep well, but being chased by some freaky goblin really has to pass haha.

Yea my Lamictal finally stopped giving me bad dreams, but my dreams are still pretty vivid, just kinda mundane most of the time. I think anytime you take meds for your brain the dreams are going to be affected, sadly.

idk what to call them. but i keep having these dreams that wake me up in a panic. from what i remember of them they weren't bad.

not on lamictal, but i am on zopiclone get very crazy dreams from that

I'm only on Epilim Sodium Valproate (called Depakote in the US, I think). I have been having weird dreams as well. They are not nightmares, just weird dreams.

I had one of these dreams last night where I had an audio bug with me and I had a FBI-agent-like curly wire in my ear (the kind of technology you see in crime drama programmes) while talking to a teenage girl. A few minutes later, gunshots are heard and when I turned around, I could "see" armed men shooting and they are sticking out of the top deck windows of double decker red buses (?!) (the London ones) with their guns sticking out as well. Through the curly wire, someone tells me to go 2 o'clock(something like that). After the gunshots finished...I can't remember now. That must have been one of my most vivid dreams! I think that dream was my warning alert to reduce the amount of American (forensic) crime dramas/mystery dramas (e.g. NCIS, NCIS:LA, White Collar, Criminal Minds, etc) that I watch!

I am still considering if I should be taken off Sodium Valproate and taken on another AED. I'm losing way too much hair and gaining too much weight. :(
