has anyone had side affects from dilantin that causes gait, dizziness, balance &
confussion? if so did you go to the dr. and have him tell you the damage is done and cant be repaired?

thanks

I have had these symptoms from other medications, but have never been told they would be permanent. For me the proof that it wasn't permanent in one case was that when the medication was reduced in dose the symptoms went away, and in another case when the medication was withdrawn after 3 years the symptoms went away.
I just did a quick google and studies I glanced at referred to these as reversible side effects. I more thorough search of google could be helpful, but a neurologist should be able to provide you with the answer for your particular case.
If you do have gait, dizziness and balance disturbances it is possible you have more than one issue going on (ie. seizures plus one or two other conditions that cause the physical symptoms). Could be worth asking your neurologist if there is a possibility the physical symptoms are not entirely medication-related, and if so to check you for other neurological conditions.

i am going to a neo dr. thats what she thinks the problem is. i am dealing with multiple problems. my gut feelings tell me its something else but she says it cant be possible. she sees the cerebellar problem caused by dilantin. just wanted someones opinion on it that has experianced it.. ive had 2 neo drs. tell me the damage is done and cant be fixed. i guess well see

plaease let know. I went Toxic with Dilantin and swear there were long lasting damages

I developed those symptoms when my phenytoin levels reached toxic.

I left the country the day the lab got the results, so I was stumbling around Tokyo for two weeks. I got odd looks.

ive heard people say that about the way they walk. its not your fault. dont worry about what they think about the way you walk.have you been to a neuoligist yet? if you need any one to talk to or support ill try to help you.
