Twice now I have had really, really bad double vision. I see two of everything - very distinct. The first time it came on out of the blue. The second time, I felt a bit wobbly and then I suddenly had double vision. When I see two - the two things appear to be separated by a large distance. I don't know where the object is ... left, right, or somewhere in the middle. I can see and not see at the same time. It takes a while for it resolve itself ... my vision slowly returns to normal. Yesterday, it was hours before the double vision and then the strain on my brain and eyes went away.

I wonder if it is from my last face plant? On Dec 9, I did the really drunk person trying ice skate routine. I did a few face plants. The face plant on that day, I really nailed my right temple, right above the outside end of my eyebrow. As far as I know, I did not lose consciousness. My teenage boys did have to carry me to bed. I had a nasty bruise on my face. The bruising has almost disappeared but there is still a small piece of something floating in that area (bone?). It still hurts a bit when you press on it. Even before this he had scheduled me for an MRI on Monday.

Anybody else experience this?

Double vision that distinct could be a simple partial seizure (which can feature a variety of visual disturbances). Since it's in both eyes, it's less likely to be a result of the faceplant, but hard to know for sure. It's good that you are getting the MRI, just in case there is some kind of bleeding from the fall that's causing pressure on the optic nerve, or something else is going on.

Every so often I'll get double vision. It will be so bad that in order to walk straight, or see something clearly, I'll have to close one eye. If I don't do this it will make me sick and I feel like I could throw up.

It lasts a good while too, an hour or longer. I find the only way that I can make it go away is lay down with something over my eyes to block out any light. Sometimes I'll fall asleep when I do this and I think that helps.

I always thought it was due to one of the meds that I'm on - Depakote, Tegretol, Keppra and Lamictal. I never thought that it might be a seizure.
