Dr prescribed generic topamirate

I am always prescribed Topamax brand name because once tried the generic version and was still getting several partial seizures for some reason.
He changed the medication to one tablet twice a day but the same dose altogether, but he has also changed it to generic. Not sure why he has done this, it is the same doctor I have always had.
I've not got the actial simple partial seizures but been getting quite a few of the auras.

Is there anything I can do?
I may be going to the fair with my girlfriend at some point soon so this is not ideal at all!

What do I do if my doctor says they - the generic and none generic - are both the same?

Call him or his office to find out what happened-- he may have forgotten that you prefer the brand version (an old my neuro did this a few times). Tell him that you've had a bad experience on the generic in the past. He should be able to set things right.

I went to the sugery to see. First they said they had definately prescribed Topamax and that it was correct, until they read it again.
Then they infomed me my doctor was on holiday so they booked me an appointment with a different doctor fo tomorrow. I kept a little of the old one at my sisters so I had any in case I forgot any while I visited her which I often did, so I have a little of that left for now so have gone back to that but it won't last me long.

Hoping the doctor I see tomorrow will prescribe the Topamax. If not, don't know what to do.

The only thing you can do is find out if your doctor has written BRAND only on the prescription. If he or she did not, then the pharmacy has the right to use generic. Something you need to do is find out why your doctor did not put "brand only" (as I have in quotes) on the prescription?

I had a neurologist that was very clear when he wrote prescriptions if he wanted me to take brand names and stated exactly "BRAND ONLY" so I had to pay higher prices at the drug store.

It is important to make note, the generic make up is different than the brand make up. Even though they are the same medication, the chemical mix is different if you would look at the DNA layout. All that means is not everyone can function on generic medication although there are some who do just fine.

I can recall there were some types of AED's that I could not take the generic brand of. Interesting thing is now, I am functioning just fine with some of the others. I am unsure if it is the combination of the VNS and the DBS working together or what. Anyway. I know everyone has their own blood chemistry make up which makes them unique in how they react.
