Sorry to ask a question that probably gets asked a lot, but just been diagnosed with simple partial seizures and wondering about driving licence. I have a licence but do not currently drive as I don't have a car. However I may want to drive in the future. I am in the UK and a bit confused as regulations seem to have changed this year. If I do not lose consciousness am I now allowed to drive? Do I still need to tell the DVLA?

i would call them and ask about it. i called them after i was diagnosed and was told to surrender my licence for my own and other peoples safety.

Yes you do as far as i know ... Because partials are still classed as a seizure i had to tell them and i have been told i need to be seizure free from partials and full seizures for one year

I hope this helps ... I will say one thing it leans in your favour if you personally surrender it to them rather than it being revoked

Thanks Sonia, I am just confused as the link I just posted seems to suggest simple partials might now be ok to drive. Very confusing! But I will ring them and ask.

i read different things on loads of different websites aswell. let us know how you get on
