I have simple partial and complex partial seizures. My simple partial consist of tingling, nausea daydreaming followed by jerking of my right leg and sometimes progresses to the shoulder. Also before Im about to have one I keep touching the left side of my lip becuase it feels like Im going to drool and so i suck in.

I decided to stop doing this to see what would happen, I am producing too much salvia and I do actually drool. Sometimes my speech is sluggish/slurish

has anyone else had this problem ?I thought drooling was only an issue in tonic clonic seizures... right now the salavia and speech is an issue not followed by a seizure so Im concerned. I also have difficulty finding the words I want to say in alot of conversations.

Anyone have any clue what this is about ? I see my neurologist on the 8th when she returns from vacation.

thanks.

Drooling can be a side effect of Klonopin -- you might want to check with your neurologist about it.

I have simple and complex and I do drool most of the time with my seizures. I don't drool without having a seizure involved. I know when I go in for check up with neuro, he does asks me if I have any drooling problems without seizures. So I would think it should be discussed with your doc.
I have memory issues. Dr said it could either be an after-effect of the seizures or could be med related. I am on Keppra and don't want to change so I turn down his offer to change my meds. I told him if it gets worse, I might try...but I have to say the sign effects of the other seizure meds scare me.

You really

do need to talk to your neuro about this one. Whether it's your meds, or an actual seizure going on, they need to know in order to give you the best care possible. Make it a point to call the neuro, ASAP. I KNOW it's a pain in the arse.......but it's worth it, I PROMISE.

I often have the sensation of drooling from the left corner of my mouth but I associate it with hemi-facial spasm that I have been diagnosed with on top of epilepsy. It's interesting because sometimes they question the hemi diagnosis but those symptoms don't fit with epilepsy.
I am just in the process of changing meds so will see if I notice any difference. I also have the speech issue and feel I search for my words but have been told that is a common side effect with dilantin. I am now switching to Lacimital

Drooling and Lamictal

I used to think I was losing my mind, but it wasn't until I came off Lamictal did my saliva issue go away. I literally use to walk around with a spit cup because I had constant saliva. So perhaps it's the med. Plus, I was forever making sucking noises trying to suck up all the saliva. Wow, I had forgotten all about that problem since it's been a while.
I also recently had a seizure (non convulsive) and my girlfriend walked in my home to find me standing in the kitchen completely zombie like and just my arm / pinky contracted and I was drooling. So, it can happen with non convulsive seizures too. But, if it's constant and you KNOW you're not seizing, I would say it's the meds. Be well, Kelley

thank-you. Yesterday it felt like all day long. Today Ive had it but just before a simple partial.. and yeah .. the having to suck like that really stinks.

I was sat outside at one point just spitting on the floor... very not lady-like.. but at least I was alone lol.

seeing my neuro in about a week.
