Forgive me if this topic has already been brought up - which i think it has, but i could have been imagining it!

I used to be really good at drawing, sketching, painting etc since i was fairly young, but over the last few months, nothing i try to put on paper is working for me! I spent a good couple of hours today trying to get a face right on a picture i was doing, when before i could have done it straight off. (I've giving up for now!)

Even things such as mixing the right paint colours, and drawing whats in my head is not working right.

So has my artistic streak disappeared or could this be something to do with E rearing it's ugly head lately and making my brain all wonky? (i seriously couldn't think of another way to put that last sentence, so my sincere apologies!)

Anyone else having these kinds of problems? I'm going to continue painting etc even if it does resemble a childs scribbles, because i enjoy it, but it's just a shame that it's nothing i'd particularly want to look at again!

Oh, Lou

You do make me laugh. :)

That last sentence, with the word "wonky" in it, sounds JUST LIKE something Elaine would (and does) say. :roflmao::roflmao:

As for the creativity issue. Yes, it has been discussed before.....here's 2 links that I found about it.

Creativity Links

Sometimes E does affect the brain's ability to be creative--sometimes you suddenly are, or aren't. It may also depend on the drugs that you're taking, too.

Go check out the other posts, and see if that helps any......

Thank you very much!

I thought there had been some before lol.

I shall go look now :woot:

I think Wonky must be a UK saying, as I use it in general everyday language.

But going back to creativity there seems to be a number of people here at CWE that are very artistic and creative (myself included) I am wondering if it is the other way round, instead of E making our brains "wonky" does it make us more artistic?

I don't know... normally i am quite artistic - just not recently.

Maybe if the E was helping me be artistic then the meds (oh, that old failsafe!) are cancelling it out? Nah i don't believe that lol.

Was very interesting reading that thread that Meetz posted though.

It seems to be the opposite for me, my creative abilities are pretty much non-existent. I remember doing tests in high school and I came up with 95% left brained.

I'm not sure if it has anything to do with my epilepsy or not, but it seems to be a correlation for me... I have damage on the right side caused from forceps at birth.

I am really good at math, physics, etc but have no ability with art, music, creative writing, etc.

Some of my best music is composed a few hours after a seizure- I have complex partial seizures and sound does change to me. I don't remember it though but maybe that has something to do with it? I feel like a seizure resets my brain in a way, as if more clear. I don't feel so well after a seizure of course, but I also feel as if a seizure could never occure again.. kinda odd experience.
I think I've heard of a lot of people with complex partial seizures having a hightened creative ability but not all people do. Some people with complex partials also can be more emotional too, but again not all people.

Take care everyone.
