I wondered if anyone else has had this problem which is ear infections. I've also wondered if a bad ear infection could lead to having seizures? I was having seizures at a young age so it has always made me wonder?

I had a very bad ear infection a while back that was so bad I wound up in the hospital. My ear itself didn't hurt but I was very sick and throwing up. I don't think they related it to epilepsy or any of the meds though.

Hi, Lonewolf;
There are many things that can cause a lowering of seizure threshold, including illnesses. Even an ear infection can lower one's seizure threshold if it is bad enough, as "extra resources" are required from the body to fight the infection. If you find run of the mill colds and ear infections are common for you and they do tend to cause an increase in seizures, you may want to consider asking your neurologist if a slightly higher anti-seizure medication dose can be used at these times.
