Anyone have experience with the tea or syrup from these berries? I found one article that says it can cause seizures but everything else praises it. Thanks for info.

I don't think I've ever tried elderberries in either form. For many triggers, what affects one person has no effect on the next person. If you're not sure, best to try something in very small dose to see how you feel. Are you thinking of taking it to treat the flu?

Emee, I have taken elderberry syrup for colds not had any problem but as Nakamova says, you might want to start out slow.

Thanks MAB & Nakamova, I can't take the flu shot or the antivirals so I'm trying to come up with some home remedies just in case.

I make a lot of elderberry cordials and never knew it could be a trigger *oops*. I didn't know about grapefruits, my husband occasionally chases me round the fresh fruit aisle with one saying 'grapefruits gonna get ya'.

Suck it and see in small doses.

Honestly I swear breathing will be the next thing that potentially reduces seizure threshold.

Meh I forgot hyperventalating. Breathing vigorously can induce a seizure.

Meh!
