Hi all,

I have complex partial seizures and have been doing readings in regards to taking vitamins and eating specific foods to get the seizures under control.

These include vitamin B12, Vitamin E, vitamins K and D......

Has anyone here tried using vitamins for seizure control and how did it go?

Kind Regards :)

I take Vitamin D, Vitamin B12 (was previously having B12 injections), and Moringa Oleifera. I have not found any of these to help with my simple partial seizures. Nor has coconut oil or MCT oil helped any.

I take vitamin D, complex B (liquid form), magnesium (I had infusions last semester of magnesium, which really helped my chronic migraines), sometimes liquid iron if I'm getting anemic, and Ashwagandha (which is an AED from India). When I'm not stressed with grad school, I do try to eat a higher fat diet. I'm also getting ready to move to a dryer climate. I've been seizure free for a year, but I'm not sure if that's my medication or my life changes.

Thanks for the repy :)

How often did you have seizures before using the vitamins, magnesium..... and what type of seizures do you have please?

Welcome Mizone87!

Good to have another forum member who is exploring alternative treatment options.

I take only natural food supplements (as opposed to synthetic lab creations). I believe that these are more bio-available to the body.

I take moringa, turmeric, saffron, and krill oil. The moringa has a broad spectrum of B vitamins, minerals and all the essential amino acids.
Oh, and I take a transdermal magnesium spray.

I tried B12 patches for a while but it didn't seem to be making much of a difference. I think it is about finding out where your personal deficiencies are. The magnesium makes a noticeable difference in quality of sleep and keeping headaches away for me but the B12 doesn't do much so to me that means my body is OK on B12 but chronically lacking in Mg.

No problem! I had tonic clonic seizures about every month and partial complex seizures every day. I've had one simple complex in the past year, but otherwise I have been 100% seizure-free. I have noticed, and my epileptologist said, there is a difference between B12 and B complex. I really like the Ashwagandha, by the way. I have horrible tummy issues and that really seems to help. I even got off of it to experiment and my tummy issues came back.

Garbo, how did you get the magnesium infusion for headaches? I've had them for almost three years from a motorcycle accident. They're better with the amitryptiline but I'm getting them more often again.

I was (and still am to a degree) having really bad chronic headaches coupled with chronic migraines. The doctors actually wondered if I had meningitis. I was in the hospital a few times last semester, only to find out that due to the drop in barometric pressure (and other things), I was really sick due to the chronic headaches (throwing up, dizzy, couldn't get out of bed, couldn't eat, etc.). So, my epileptologist ordered infusions for the headaches. I was supposed to have DHE, but ha, I had a reaction to that-- I actually had a seizure, but I don't count that one. ;)

I hope that answers your question! I now take magnesium every day, which with the increased topamax I think that helps.
