I haven't posted in months, but I check in and do "lurk".....
I came to see if there was anything about seizures and autoimmune disease, and found this thread. my regular neurologist sent me off to a another neurologist at a neuroscience center. he had concerns about some things that have been going on with me. i have many issues with memory, comprehension, finding words, speaking wrong words, writing problems, tremor and balance, anxiety. probably depression ( im in deny about that though) resistant to meds.
So yesterday, I met with him. we talked about every thing going on. then they started doing some tests. well, I "failed" every test they had me do. I was given 3 words and could only rememeber 1 of them. on the heel toe test, my son said it looked lieje i was beyond drunk. touch nose, touch docs finger thingy some backward count thing. some other things..not good at all. he believes it is something to do autoimmune or antibodies..i'm not sure if they're the same.i'm not sure what it all means. ive googled of course and theres all kinds of confusing information there.mi don't remember everything he said, he was very concerned. said we eant it to like to hope its just epilepsy without cause. and I will be just one of the people out there who's seizures not controlled with meds.
I remember my GP doing bloodwork a couple months ago with all these things "off" calcium, some other stuff..maybe minerals or something..some a long those..I don't know. anyway, she did the bloodwork over and said there may been screwup first time..I think now maybe not? anyway, it's all a bit strange and not anything I expected. I have to wait for all the bloodwork tests he's doing to come back to know more, so I'll hvaebetter idea then. I'm going to check the links posted. thanks for listening.

Hi there, I am one of those that has temporal lobe epilepsy due to the VGKC antibodies. I am not on meds but may start soon.My Neurologist was hoping that the antibodies may lessen in time but as time goes on they are still there. My MRI was normal but have had 'epileptiform discharges' on 2 EEG's but no actual seizure caught on the EEG yet. I have had psychiatric symptoms such as depression and also some weird TLE type of experiences. I hoped there might be more people with this type of epilepsy or cause of epilepsy out there to talk to but it doesn't seem common or just under diagnosed maybe.

This is actually really interesting because after my first seizure, I had a false positive pregnancy. After I went to the hospital because I was freaking out when I thought I was going to have another seizure, I had a false positive then too. I've had a couple - and they said it was because of antibodies. I had never had a false positive before that first seizure, so I've always wondered if there was some type of link... A couple of doctors have caught the false positives along with the seizure activity, but most don't... or they don't know what the link could be.
